Jerry House died on February 10, 2015 at age 74 after a 3½ battle with carcinoid cancer. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday February 21, 2015 at the Church of Resurrection at 11:00 AM with Rev. Kevin Connolly officiating. Visitation will be at the church two hours prior to the service.
Jerry was born on April 21, 1940 in Wasioja, MN to Robert and Eleanor (Wise) House and he grew up in Rochester. He attended college in Rochester and LaCrosse, WI and obtained his teaching degree. He taught and coached for 40 years before retiring in 2002. He then continued as a substitute teacher in Rochester and Byron before retiring due to illness in early 2014.
Jerry loved time with family and friends whether at home or at the lake in Hayward, WI. When not there, he loved to travel, swim, canoe, sail and read. To his family he was known as “Mr. Fixit!”
Jerry married Carolyn Jacobson in 1961 and she survives along with his four children: Joel (Allison) House, daughters Ellie and Rosemary, Pepin, WI, Kerry House, Millville, MN, Jill (Darin) Morrow, son DJ and Chera and their daughter, Presley and son Derek (Becky), Ostrander, MN and Wendy House, sons Luke and Jakob and daughter Brooklyn, Kasson, MN. Also surviving are his siblings Robert (Ann) House, Eden Prairie, MN, Betty Stoltenberg, Rochester, MN, Mary (Robert) Burk, Eyota, MN and Sandra (George) Maule, Evans, GA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Carolyn.
The family wishes to thank all who attended his Living Memorial in October to share memories with Jerry in person proving that Jerry’s desire to do God’s will and use skills given to him were fulfilled to the best of his human ability. His heart and spirit were lifted by this sharing and presence.
A very special thank you also goes out to the Mayo Hospice staff and to Dr. Henry Schultz for their supportive care over these last months. They were Jerry’s “earth angels” assisting him and his family on his last journey.
In lieu of flower memorials, please direct donations to either Mayo Hospice or the Poverello fund at St. Marys Hospital.

Condolences
The family of Jerry D. House has received the following condolences.
Hello, Carolyn and family.
I am sad to say that Pete and I will not be able to attend the services for Jerry. Kiera has a skating performance at the same time. You and your family have been in our thoughts and prayers. May you celebrate Jerry's life and all that he meant to each of us. He was a kind and compassionate man who gave so much to this world. I will never forget our years teaching together and all that he taught me along the way. He will forever hold a special place in my heart. We will be with you tomorrow in spirit. God bless!
Jean McGorry and family
Dear Carolyn and Family,
Unfortunately my husband and I have another commitment and will not be able to attend Jerry's funeral. Our son Greg was a member of the swim team in the 1970's and my husband Jim attended every swim meet. We had great respect for Jerry's coaching ability with the divers. I also taught at John Marshall High School at that time and knew him to be a fine teacher. We send our heartfelt condolences for your loss.
Peace, James and Darlene Vowels
