Jean A. Roth

Jean (Meadows) Roth

Jean Roth, Trixie as her friends called her, 84, of Rochester MN, died Nov 26, 2023, after a battle with dementia.

She was born on August 12, 1939, to Evelyn Meadows in Nebraska, later moving back to the La Crosse WI area nearer to extended family.

Jean attended La Crosse WI Central High School, graduating in 1957.  She met the love of her life, Tom Roth, while she was still in middle school, and they were married in 1960.  Tom and Jean moved to Rochester MN and had three children, Sue, Pat and Tim.  She was a great mom to her kids as well as to the countless children that could call her their second mom during her 25 plus years as a day care provider.  She was devoted to her faith and taught all her children to be respectful and kind.

Over the years Tom and Jean (aka Wifey) traveled all over the country with their family in a little camper, later upgrading to a larger motorhome.  They retired early and were able to travel in their RV and by motorcycle, rarely missing the annual Sturgis bike rally over 40 years, her last trip being 4 years ago at the age of 80.  They spent their winters in Arizona for more than 25 years.

Jean is survived by beloved husband of 63 years, Tom, daughters Sue (Tom) Brytowski and Pat (Chris) Adamson, son Tim (Kelly) Roth, grandchildren Jakob (Hannah Huff) and Jessica (Shawn Staples) Brytowski, Spencer and Christian Adamson, Hannah, Will and Luke Roth along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Evelyn Meadows, sister, Betty Gossett and many good friends.

Visitation will be at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Rochester, on Thursday, December7th, 2023, from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. with the funeral Mass at 11:00.  The burial at Oronoco Cemetery will follow Mass.  A celebration of life begins after the burial.

Memorials in lieu of flowers to Moments Hospice or to Rochester Catholic Schools.

Condolences

The family of Jean A. Roth has received the following condolences.

My heart is saddened by the news of Jean’s passing. You have my deepest condolences. Blessings be to you, Sue, Pat, Tim and their families in this difficult time.

Jeanie and Tom were staples in my life growing up. She was one of my mother’s best friends- Ann McCarthy. Jeanie was always so loving and kind. Her laugh would lighten the room. God bless her, Tom and your family.

Tom and family, I’m so very sorry for your loss of such a wonderful person. I remember her always taking care of everyone. She and Tommy were so good to us when they opened their home to us when my son was seen at the Mayo Clinic. They were always warm and welcoming and what fun we had playing games!!  Especially mummy cube!   I will always have such fond memories of Jeanie and Tommy especially on Christmas Eve around the camp fire at my Uncle John Hickey’s home. It was always a grand time with jokes and lots of laughter.  I’ll never forget what she and Tommy taught me-pour the milk in the cup before the coffee so the coffee doesn’t get cold!  She was a dear soul. God bless you Tommy and your family.
Michele (McCarthy) Albo

Tom and family. So sorry seeing Jean has passed away. Will always remember great times together camping, motorcycling, trips to Sturgis! You two were just a great and fun loving couple to be with. Again my deepest condolences.

Our deepest sympathies, to the Roth family, friends for many years. Thinking of you, The Parnow family

So sorry to hear about Trixie.  We were neighbors in Arizona for many years.

Our condolences to Tom and the family.

Tom, Sue, Pat and Tim

I was deeply saddened to hear of Jeans passing.  When I think of her I just see her huge smile on her face standing in your old kitchen.  Her warm hugs and words of encouragement as I headed off to the Navy meant a great deal to me.  I lost my own mother to Alzheimer's so I understand how the family must have struggled as well.  Be at peace knowing God has restored her mind to the loving wife & mother she always was.

Prayers & Hugs to all of you as you start your healing journey.

Julie (Kesler) Mosser

Thinking of you, Tom and all of your family. Trixie was such a sweet lady and fun to play cards with. Will miss her!

Flo-Rae's Hair Salon would like to send our sincere and deepest sympathy to Jean's family.  Jean has been one of my best clients over many years.  She was a ray of sunshine and will be missed.  Mary Ann

So sorry to hear of Jeannie’s passing.  May God be with you & grant you peace.

Tom and family - we are so sorry for your loss of Jean.  She's always held a special place in our hearts and was such a great day care provider for our daughters.  We have many special memories.  May you cherish the many memories you all made together.

Love and hugs,

Daryl & Sharon

My heart is saddened by the news of Jean’s passing. You have my deepest condolences. Blessings be to you, Sue, Pat, Tim and their families in this difficult time.

This just makes me so sad…Tom and Jean were close friends with my Dad and Mom, Wayne and Margaret Hoffman. Dad worked with Tom at IBM and they were in our family’s lives for decades. I used to see them and spend quality time with them every year at the Sturgis rally. I’ve eaten with them at their house numerous times. Jean was so kind and such a sweetheart.

I’ve been saying Rosary’s for the Repose of her Soul and for most certainly for Tom as well. I just said one this morning. You rarely ever saw one of them without the other.

I truly believe that even now, Jean is Rejoicing in the Glorious Presence of her Heavenly Father, in a Place so Beautiful that those of us left behind on earth cannot begin to comprehend. I’m also praying for Sue, Pat and Tim, May the Holy Spirit grant you Strength and Comfort through this difficult time. It’s not easy losing your Mother. I know this from experience. God Bless you all.

So sorry we will be in Arizona and have to miss the service. Please know that we are thinking about you and send prayers and hugs.
