Jean Marie Miner

Jean Marie Miner, 83, passed away on June 2, 2024 of natural causes, while surrounded by her family.  Jean had a wonderful life dealing with multiple health issues, and on June 2nd, Jean’s body had enough.

Jean was born on December 16, 1940, to Joseph and Edith Thomas in Mankato, MN. Jean grew up on a farm near Lake Crystal, MN. Jean was active in FHA, band, and choir. Jean graduated from Lake Crystal High School in 1958. Jean worked at Marigold Dairy in North Mankato and Lake Crystal National Bank. Jean married Jim Miner on June 14, 1961 at Zion Lutheran Church in Lake Crystal. In January of 1962, Jim and Jean moved to Rochester, where Jean began working at 1st National Bank in downtown Rochester. Jean also worked for Mayo Clinic and Target, but her most treasured tasks were taking care of her own two children, her grandchildren, as well as several neighborhood children.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Joseph Lowell Thomas, and a brother-in-law, LeRoy Olson.

Jean is survived by her husband of 62 years, sisters Mary Lou Olson of Lake Crystal and Barbara (Ernie) Gatchell of Hayti, SD; children, Jodi (Ray) Yates of Rochester and Kim (Heath) Klauer of Hayfield; grandchildren, Nicole (Joe) Folken of Rochester, Danielle (Darren) Fischer of Lakefield, MN, Branden Yates of La Crosse, WI, Gavin and Bradan Klauer of Hayfield and great-grandchildren, Natalie and Alan Folken and Parker and Ian Fischer.

The family would like to thank the Mayo Clinic Staff, the staff at St. Marys Emergency Department, the staff at Madonna Towers and the Benedict House and Mayo Clinic Hospice.

Memorial may be directed to the American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, Mayo Clinic Cancer and Cardiac Research or to the charity of donor’s choice.

A celebration of Jean’s life will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 7, 2024 at the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, 1105 12th St. SE, Rochester, MN. Visitation will be held 5:00-7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 6, 2024 at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service. Rev. T.J. Parlette will be officiating. Kim & family,

I'm so sorry for your loss & pray for comfort during this season of mourning. I had no idea the connection we shared with the Mankato/Lake Crystal areas. It sounds like Jean lived such a full life, made an impact on many, & left this world surrounded by loving family. I'll keep you all in my prayers.

Dear Jim & family

our sincere sympathies to all of you.

Jean was a wonderful wife,  Mother, grandmother & friend.

Try to be strong in the difficult days ahead. May knowing that She is now free of all pain & suffering bring you some comfort.  She is now in the Loving arms of our Savior.

Rest in Heaven’s Peace Jean
Prayers & thoughts will be with you

Terry & Karen Galuska

Jim and Family,

I am deeply saddened by Jean's passing. She was a fixture sitting on the porch in the summer months as our family walked by your hosue nightly. Brock was raised on both Jim and Jean's kindness and were his neighborhood grandparents.

She will be missed.
