Jane A. Finbraaten

Jane Anne Finbraaten, lifelong resident of Rochester passed away March 10, 2015. She died peacefully surrounded by loved ones following a brief illness. Jane was born to parents Charles and Julia Jordan on October 23, 1925. She married John Bucher and had five children, Michael Jordan, Mark Thomas, Patrick Shawn, Joseph James and Jacqueline Anne. The marriage ended in divorce. Jane raised the five children as a single mother for many years. She did so with perseverance and grace. During that time she managed to receive a degree through Rochester Community College. She was very proud of being a freshman alongside her son Mike. She worked for the Mayo Clinic for many years. She faced many hardships without complaint. She was very proud of her Irish heritage. Jane was incredibly sociable and had many, many dear friends. She had a great sense of humor and could laugh herself with ease. She was also a great story-teller. She loved her Minnesota Twins, rarely missing a game. She also thoroughly enjoyed visiting thrift stores and antiquing. She deeply loved her children. Following the loss of her oldest child Michael, she found strength and shared that strength with her surviving children. After marrying a second time she enjoyed a full and loving relationship. She married a 2nd time to Eldred Finbraaten in 1976. She and ‘Eldy’ had many good years together. She led a long, full and gratifying life. She will be sorely missed. A memorial service will be held Saturday March 14, 2015 at 1:00pm. in the River Park Chapel Macken Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Saturday March 14, 2015 from 12:30pm to 1:00pm. in the River Park Chapel Macken Funeral Home. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Condolences

The family of Jane A. Finbraaten has received the following condolences.

My sincere condolences.

My name is Mona Keehn and I am writing for my mother June.

Jane was a good friend to June. They lived across the street from each other for many years on Kings Run Drive. They both eventually ended up in Madonna Towers and spent time together there as friends. Jane took my mom under her wing and kept her involved with people. I always appreciated Jane as my mom's friend. She moved away from Madonna Towers recently and I have missed seeing her there when I visit.

My deepest sympathy for your loss.

Mona and June

Hello to all the Bucher kids,

I can't believe that I missed seeing you all at your mom's memorial service at Mackens.  I had a repair man here and it ran over the same time period.  My condolences to you all.  I saw Jane at Helen Brossard's funeral and she was putting up a strong front.  Please comment if you have a minute.   Corrine

Love you always and rest in peace. Mark

I am sorry for you loss. Jane was such a happy spirit and loved to visit. I enjoyed getting to know her and hearing  all about her family she loved so much.

God Bless you all.

Since I knew Jane and her family for many years, I had the opportunity to join in events and activities with most of them. Those memories were entertaining, wild or fun, but never boring! Jane was a great conversationalist, story teller, loved a good joke and easily shared her memorable laugh.

My thoughts and prayers are with you today, although I am unable to be there with you. May the memories of the good times you shared together with Jane and your family bring you comfort today and in the future. May you continue to grow closer together always!

Jane was a special lady.  I  will  always remember the 4th of Julys Ray & I spent with her and Eldred when they lived by Silver Lake and all the attention she had lavished on Karen and Rachel.        Linda Davis

Jane was a wonderful person and will be missed.  I have fond childhood memories of summertime celebrating the 4th of July from her home in Rochester.  I wish your family peace and love during this difficult time.

I grew up knowing Jane, Eldy and all the children.  I must say it was never a dull day.  I will miss her.

I really admired Jane for her intelligence and her strong will. She loved her children through it all. I miss her already!! So sorry for your loss, Mary
