Condolences

The family of James Joseph Horn has received the following condolences.

We were so sorry to read that Jim Horn had died. Dick and I send our sincere sympathies to his wife Dyanne. They were our next-door neighbors when they lived in La Crosse, and we couldn't have asked for better or nicer neighbors. Jim's personality always made you smile and feel better about yourself. He always had a glint in his eyes and a grin on his face. He took one of our young sons with him in his sailboat, and I'll always remember Jim saying that Scott was more interested in looking for frogs than learning to sail. Very true! We felt so sorry for Horns when they lost their daughter Nancy. We know how that terrible pain never leaves your heart. Jim was such a good guy and will be missed by many people.

Hello Dyanne,

Very sorry to hear of Jim's passing. I did track him down a number of years ago when you lived In Arizona, but what I remember most about Jim was when we rode RAGBRAI on his tandem bike across Iowa. I think Jim was 51 and I was 49, so we called ourselves a 100 year old engine. My son Marc and a friend of his also rode with us, but never together, as they outdistanced us every day. It was a memorable event dutifully recorded on film. Another time Jim loaned me the bike and I talked my wife Margaret into riding it with me out to a Kiwanis outing in Bangor. She made it out there, but we had to bum a ride  back with Lyle Peacock in his station wagon. If you would like any photos from that RAGBRAI trip, give me an email address or phone number to call.

Warmest regards,

Dick Zoerb
