James “Jerry” Anderson
James “Jerry” Anderson of Rochester, MN formerly of Eau Claire
James “Jerry” Anderson, age 85, of Rochester and formerly of Eau Claire, WI, died at St. Marys Hospital on Saturday, October 10. Jerry fell due to a long battle with cancer. Jerry was born on July 27, 1924 in Ceylon, MN, and later lived in Eau Claire, WI from 1966 – 2008. He lived in Rochester for one year. He was a physics professor at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. He married Delores Van Risseghm on June 13, 1970 at Sacred Heart Church in Robinsdale, MN. She was a teacher and librarian. His wife survives.
Jerry was a member of St. Pius, was in the city Band in Eau Claire, and was very active in Right to Life groups in Eau Claire and Rochester. He enjoyed tinkering, loved music, and directed the Latin Mass Choir at St. Mary’s Church in Altoona, WI.
He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother-in-law. Survivors include his wife Delores, daughter Ann (Josh) Noser of Rochester, siblings Joe (June), Vince (Delores), John, and Terry Quigley, and two grand children, Fred and Marie Noser.
A funeral mass will be held on Friday, October 16 at Resurrection Catholic Church at 11:30AM, with the Rev. Father Thomas Loomis officiating.
Friends may call between 10:30 – 11:30AM at the church. Burial will follow the service at Calvary Cemetery in Rochester.
