James E. Stanton

James Edwin Stanton, 58, of Rochester, MN, passed away on Monday, November 13, 2017 at Season’s Hospice after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

Jim was born on October 6, 1959 to Marion and Kathleen Stanton. He was raised on a farm in Hayfield, MN.  He graduated from Hayfield High School in 1978, and while continuing to help on the farm, attended Albert Lea Vocational School to become an electrician.  On December 7, 1985, Jim married the love of his life, Deb McNamara.  They made their home in Rochester and raised two children there.  Jim was a member of the IBEW for 35 years, most of which was spent working for Foster Electric.

Family meant everything to Jim. He was a very dedicated husband and father, and put his family first in all aspects of his life.  He enjoyed traveling, cooking, golfing, fishing, and watching Twins and Vikings games.

He is survived by his loving wife, Deb Stanton; son, Brian Stanton of Minneapolis, MN; daughter, Kelly Stanton of Rochester, MN; parents, Marion and Kathleen Stanton of Austin, MN; siblings, Ann (Paul) Hoehn of Milaca, MN, Jean (Terry) Frahm of St. Paul, MN, Mary (Steve) Hessel of Milwaukee, WI, David (Kelly) Stanton of St. Michael, MN, Ruth Stanton of Austin, MN, and Tom Stanton of Jackson, WY.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, November 16, 2017 at Resurrection Catholic Church with Rev. Peter Schuster officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to Mass on Thursday at the church.  Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
