Jacqueline “Cookie” Underwood

Jacqueline Ellen “Cookie” Underwood, age 72, of Rochester, MN died Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN, surrounded by her family. She had been fighting cancer for 26 years, and was under the care of Mayo Home Hospice.

Jacqueline was born May 4, 1947, in Rochester,  the daughter of Orrin and Helen (Holland) Hoven. She attended Northrop School and graduated from John Marshall High School in 1966. She was united in marriage to Dave Underwood on February 4, 1967 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Rochester. Jackie enjoyed going to thrift stores and garage sales. She collected cook books, and was an excellent cook. She also enjoyed taking road trips with her husband. She also had a love for all animals, especially her dogs. Jackie and Dave celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary in February of this year. The family would like to extend a special thanks to Deane Smith in Oncology and Dr. Feely in Palliative Care, and all the nurses and support personnel on Mayo Gonda 10 who were so supportive and kind to us.

She is survived by her husband, Dave; sons: Brad (Jenny) of St. Paul, MN, Jeff (Kris) of rural Byron, MN, and Jack (LeaAnn) of Racine, MN; grandsons: Brandon (Anna) of Lino Lakes, MN, Bailey, Tyler, and Travis of Byron, MN, and Cole of Racine, MN; 1 great-daughter: Sophia Underwood; and Emma Underwood on the way; brother, David Hoven of Rochester; and sister, Diane Snakenberg of Remer, MN.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

A funeral service will be held Monday, August 26, 2019 at 11:00 AM in River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester, with Rev. Lester Horntvedt officiating. Visitation will be one and a half hours prior to the service. Interment will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.
