Hope R. Diekman

Hope Renae Diekman of Stewartville, MN passed away on Saturday, September 24th, 2022 at the age of 50 after a lengthy illness. She came into the world on May 2, 1972 to her loving parents, Paul and Sharon Erickson of Rushford, MN.

Hope often fondly recollected early memories of growing up on the farm outside Rushford, and playing kickball with her father and two younger sisters; Sara and Lora.

Hope’s greatest joy was her children, Diana and Ethan. She threw herself into supporting her kids as they got involved in sports, scouts, music, and church activities. Hope was always there to encourage them and celebrate their accomplishments.

Their family was complete when Hope met Fred, and his three sons, Tyler, Alex, and Broderick. They married in Rochester, MN on a hot July day in 2011.

Hope loved to travel, especially in her fifth wheel camper. She valued her own education and earned her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Cincinnati in 2012. She worked her way up the rungs of Mayo Clinic until she became a technical specialist in the molecular hematopathology lab.

She loved animals, especially her two rescue dogs; Kirby & Brownie. She was a wonderful homemaker and cook, and prided herself on her holiday decorations.

Hope is survived by her husband, Fred; children, Diana, and Ethan; step-children, Tyler (Sam), Alex, Broderick (Amy), mother, Sharon Erickson; sisters, Sara (John), and Lora (Scott); grandchildren, Rowan, Colton, and Duke, and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her father, Paul Erickson; paternal grandparents, Einar & Lillie Erickson; and maternal grandparents, Donald & Mildred Yaeger.

Her celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 1st, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church in Stewartville, MN. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 30th, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church in Stewartville, MN and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.

Memorials are preferred to Paws & Claws Humane Society of Rochester, MN.

Condolences

The family of Hope R. Diekman has received the following condolences.

On behalf of myself and Indianola First United Methodist Church, we share our deepest sympathies to the family. Ethan has shared his musical gifts with us on Sunday mornings since his freshman year at Simpson and has become a part of our Worship Arts family. Such a terrific guy could only be due in part to a terrific woman for a mother. We send our love and our prayers that Hope finds rest and her family finds comfort. God bless.

Hope was one of my oldest friends. I knew Hope from early childhood (because our dads were high school classmates) and into our high school years. I remember Hope as an excellent trumpet player! We played trumpet together in all the various forms of our high school band--concert band, jazz band, marching band, etc.... We also attended the same church in our hometown of Rushford. I remember Hope as a kind and gentle person who was always cheerful. It was good to know her in this life, but even now, Jesus gives us hope for the future.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences on Hope's passing. She was a remarkable, smart, poised and dedicated person and it was a tremendous joy to have had the opportunity to work with her in the molecular heme lab. She is and will be hugely missed.

Hope and I bonded through cancer. Her enthusiasm for life and love for family, friends, and furkids was evident. Her hope for her own cure never faltered. I wish I could have done more. Stage 4 needs more! Rest In Peace sweet Hope. My condolences ?

Fred, my sympathy to you and your family.

Lord's Blessings

Hope was the strongest person I've ever known.  Her love and passion for her family, friends, and pets were her drive in life.  My thoughts and prayers are deeply with you now.  Rest in eternal peace, lovely lady.

Hope was an amazing individual. I feel incredibly lucky to have met her, even if it were a brief period of time while we were interning together in Willmar, MN. She was kind to me then, in a time I needed it the most. I imagine she touched other's lives similarly, and I think it takes a truly special person to do that. All of my condolences to her loved ones.

I had the privilege to know Hope when we worked together in the FTL at Mayo. We shared the same passion and our friendship grew. I am saddened to hear of Hope passing. She’s a kindhearted person and will be missed. You have my sympathy.

Ethan Humble & Family,

It breaks my heart to hear about the passing of your mother. There is no greater pain than losing someone you love so much, but knowing she is no longer in pain or suffering is what is important to remember. Cherish the good times, the bad, and all the in between. The grief and sorrow you feel today will be the happiness and gratitude you will feel tomorrow. Sending my love and condolences to you all.

Sharon, Sorry for the loss of your Beautiful daughter Hope. Your entire family is in my thoughts at this time.

We are saddened by Hope's leaving us. Please accept our sympathy and prayers for her family.
