Hazel F. Vesey
Hazel Fern (Shaw) Vesey, 98, of Rochester and formally of Fillmore, Minnesota passed away peacefully on Friday, January 8, 2016 at Samaritan Bethany on Eighth.
Hazel attended High school in Chatfield Minnesota. Following graduation she attended Normal Teachers Training, after which she taught at several rural schools in southeast Minnesota area. Later she became a chef for the Silver Grill in Chatfield and The Arthur Hotel in Rochester.
Hazel married David Vesey in 1936. Together they had six children.
She was a devoted member of the Fillmore Free Methodist Church. Hazel had a passion for knitting, crocheting and gardening. She also enjoyed daily visits with family and friends.
Hazel was very caring of others, had a great sense of humor and loved to make people laugh.
Hazel is survived by her four children Betty Holets of Wabasha, Minnesota, Ruth Ann (William) Copeman of Fountain, MN, Everett (Dixie) Vesey of Cylinder, Iowa and Michael Vesey of Rochester, she is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband David; six sisters; five brothers; son, Kenny Vesey; daughter, Joyce Parks; son-in-law, Laverne Holets; daughter-in-law, Rosie Vesey and two grandsons.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at the Fillmore Free Methodist Church in Fillmore, Minnesota at 11:00AM with Pastor Mike Hopper officiating. A visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at the Fillmore Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Fillmore Free Methodist Church.
