Harriet A. Douglas

Harriet Ann (Reimann) Douglas, 80, of Rochester MN died Monday November 6th, 2023, at Seasons Hospice House after a courageous sixteen-month battle with Pancreatic cancer.

Harriet was born on August 19, 1943, in Lanesboro, MN, to Jacob and Minerva (Johnson) Reimann. She attended Lanesboro schools. On November 12, 1960, she married Paul Douglas. The couple lived in Spring Valley and the surrounding area until 1969, when they bought her husband’s family farm in Byron, MN. They lived there for 43 years and raised their three daughters. Harriet was a homemaker for many years and worked a variety of retail jobs until she retired. In 2012, the couple sold the family farm, and moved to Rochester, MN.

Harriet had a God-given talent and was a self-taught local artist who won many awards at events. She shared her talent with family and friends by gifting them her beautiful artwork. Many of her works were on canvas, however she also worked on other mediums such as rocks, leaves, feathers, and saws. She was a member of the Root River Artists and the Mantorville Art Guild and displayed much of her artwork in local venues. Harriet was very generous with her time and talents, she enjoyed cooking, gardening, quilting / sewing, and playing games with family and friends. She traveled, enjoyed dancing, fishing, listening to music, and an occasional trip to the casino. She had many friends and family who held her in high regard.

She is survived by her three daughters: Lori (Jeff) Aufderhar, Nancy (Kevin) House, Jennifer (Brandon) Ferrier; 6 grandchildren: Jesse (Tammy) Lawson, Jerad Lawson, Steven (Kristi) House, Amanda (Adam) Schow, Kaitlin and Connor Ferrier; two step-grandchildren: Ashley and Alexis Jablonski; one great-granddaughter: Lucy House; one brother Jerry (Lynn) Reimann; sisters-in-law: Carol (Jim) Schimek of Welton, AZ, and Elrose Douglas, of Rochester, MN.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Paul Douglas; parents: Jacob and Minerva Reimann, parents-in-law: Merton and Dena Douglas, sisters-in-law: Evelyn Anderson, and Donna “Ricky” Douglas; brothers-in-law: Donald, Clifford, and Duane Douglas, and Arlen Anderson.

The funeral service will be held at 11am Tuesday, November 14th, 2023, in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, with Rev. Nirmala Reinschmidt officiating. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 13th from 4-7 pm and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will be at the Frankford Cemetery in Spring Valley, MN.

Memorials are preferred to Christ Lutheran Church in Byron, MN, Seasons Hospice, or Frankford Cemetery.
