Harlan Gene Hebig

Harlan Hebig, 84, of Rochester, died on Monday, November 2, 2020 at home with his wife.

Harlan was born on June 17, 1936, to Manley and Dorothy (McClary) Hebig. He attended Hawthorne Elementary, Central Junior High, and graduated from Rochester High School in 1954. He then attended Rochester Jr. College. He married the love of his life, Patricia Rossman, on September 24, 1966, at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Rochester.

He started his banking career at Northwestern National Bank in 1959. He retired after 38 years of working there in 1997.

Harlan enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, wood working, telling stories, traveling to all 50 states, the Canadian Provinces, Europe and the Caribbean.  His family was the most important thing in his life.

Harlan is survived by his wife of 54 years, Pat; sons: Gene (Lynn) Hebig of St. Charles, MN, and David (Polly) Hebig of International Falls, MN; daughter, Ann (Patrick) Gavin of Lakewood, CO; grandchildren: Peter (Anna) Rutgers, Catherine (Joel) Pawelk, Jesse (Nakita) Hebig, Rosie and Maggie Gavin; step-grandchildren: Jason (Jenny) Sturm, and Jamie (James) Ward; great-grandchildren: Hezekiah, Hosanna, and Honor Pawelk, Emira and Silas Rutgers, and Lilly Hebig; step-great-grandchildren: Olivia and Brody Sturm, Nolan and Nyle Ward; sisters-in-law, Noreen Hebig, Mary Rossman and Ann (Bill) Herman; brothers-in-law, Bill Rossman and Francis O’Brien; and many nieces and nephews.

Harlan was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Vernon.
