Minerva Hanson, 90, of Rochester, Minnesota died Thursday May 8, 2014 at Cornerstone Assisted Living in Plymouth, Minnesota.

Minerva was born August 14, 1923 to Charles and Clara Johnson of Osage, IA.  She graduated from Mitchel High School in 1941 and worked for Western Union in several locations across the U.S. until returning to Osage where she met the love of her life, Merle Hanson.  Minerva and Merle were married in Williamsburg, VA in 1950, living in St. Paul, MN until 1954 when they moved to Rochester where Merle joined Weber and Judd Drug Company and later Rochester Methodist Hospital as a pharmacist.  Minerva was a homemaker, hospital auxiliary and community volunteer and active member of Autumn Ridge Church (formerly First Baptist Church) with a special passion for children’s and women’s ministries.

Minerva was preceded in death by her husband Merle and is survived by son, Gary (Joy) of Plymouth, MN; grandchildren, Alyssa (Ethan) of Chicago, IL and Marc (Caitlyn) of Maple Grove, MN; and great-grandson, Liam Merle Hanson also of Maple Grove, MN.

Minerva had a passion for her family, especially, her grandchildren, her church, and Bible study friends.
