Gregory M. Timp
Gregory Mark Timp, age 65 of Rochester, MN passed away on January 12, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. Born in Hoven, SD, January 26, 1960. Greg was a proud American, a devoted family member, and a veteran who served his country with distinction.
Greg enlisted in the United States Navy in November 1977 and went on to build an honorable and accomplished career of service. He re-enlisted in December of 1984 and continued to advance in responsibility and skill. Over the course of over a decade in uniform, Greg served with commitment and professionalism aboard U.S. Navy vessels; USS Cochrane (DDG-21) and the USS Midway (CV-41).
During his Naval service, Greg earned multiple honors and commendations for his performance, including the prestigious Navy Achievement Medal (awarded in 1987 and again in 1991), recognizing his exceptional dedication and superior performance of duty. Greg also served during Operation Desert Storm and proudly carried the title of Desert Storm Veteran for the remainder of his life.
On March 6, 1991, Greg was honorably discharged from the United States Navy with gratitude and respect from a grateful nation.
Following his military service, Greg continued to embody the values he learned in the Navy—loyalty, integrity, humility, and quiet strength. He was deeply proud of his service and kept his Navy photographs, certificates, and caps displayed as a reminder of the men and women he served with and the work he accomplished.
In 2001 Greg got married to the love of his life, Nancy Shipman. They shared many years of love, laughter, camping and raising James and Brandon.
Greg most recently worked as a driver at Auto Zone in Rochester. Prior to that he had a Schwann’s route in Rochester and prior to that he owned a MAC Tool’s route in Rochester. He and wife Nancy, successfully built and ran their own business; G&N House Cleaning. His wife, Nancy, passed in October of 2025; Greg proudly cared for Nancy in her final days as she received hospice care.
Greg is survived by; sons James (Abbie) McGee, Brandon McGee (Alex Cantero); grandchildren; Carson, Vaeda and Everlie McGee; siblings, Shelby Pamela Timp and Kelly Timp and Mother Bonnie Timp. Along with nephews, a niece, cousins, aunts, an
uncle and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Shipman Timp and Father Ray Timp and other loved ones.
Greg will forever be remembered for his generosity and care to so many of us, and his unwavering pride in the country he served. His puggle, Tika, was always his sunshine and constant companion.
A private family celebration will happen at a later date. A burial with full military honors, including a 21-gun salute (3-volley), will take place at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in St. Paul in the coming year, where Greg and his beloved wife, Nancy, will be laid to rest together.

I loved Greg like a brother. We were always close and had many things in common. I was really looking forward to having him move in. We were going to go explore the USA. I will miss my brother forever!
