TO THE WELSCHER FAMILY:
Heaven has a new angel by the name of Geri Welscher! We have thought of Geri as a special friend for over forty years. We always enjoyed her quick wit, kind soul and her love for adventure. Geri was always the first to suggest a new adventure or activity for us to try, leaving us with wonderful memories. Her strong faith, always at the center of her life, was an inspiration to all of us. May heaven welcome her with open arms and give her lasting peace.
We would like to send our sincere sympathies to your family and Angela.
We enjoyed getting to know Geri over the years. She was such a wonderful person, who always saw the good around her, would help those in need and was always ready for the next adventure! She had a beautiful soul and in the same breath, was a warrior to see things through.
Deepest Sympathy,
Gary and Sally Isker
I don’t even know where to begin, because so much of my life includes the whole Welscher family Twelve years of school together — twelve years of growing up side by side. When I think about my childhood and all those memories, Jerry is right there in the middle of them.
We were just farm kids, making our own fun wherever we could. I can still picture us on those “farm tours,” turning everyday chores into adventures and finding ways to make each other laugh. School was always better because we were in it together. Even when high school got a little tougher, we stuck it out — and yes, I may or may not have benefited from glancing over at Geri’s test answers once or twice. I guess I never properly said thank you for that.
What I remember most is the closeness — not just ours, but our families’. There was something special about growing up the way we did, sharing meals, stories, hard work, and laughter. Those memories are part of who I am, and I will always be grateful for them.
Geri was part of some of the best years of my life. Thank you for sharing them with all of us. I will carry those memories — and that friendship — with me always.
Please know that I’m here for you, for anything at all. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
With all my love,
Carlene
She will be missed at Lagoons, Rockport Tx
I will be forever grateful to Geri for her amazing kindness to my parents during my mother's illness and her assistance to my Dad after mom's passing. The world is less bright without her.
Charlie and I have pleasant memories of our time at Lagoons. A great friend
Prayers continue for Geri, Sister Kathleen, and the entire Welscher family.
Good friends are hard to find, harder to leave, and impossible to forget…
We were like sisters living together in that old dorm in Red Wing while attending LPN school. We were brought together to learn the basics of medical care under the guidance of Helen Bell, Evelyn Reinhardt, and Elizabeth Cappola.
We have always considered ourselves among the best nurses of our time — not because of titles, but because of our hands-on knowledge, deep compassion for our patients, and our strong work ethic as a team.
Over the years, we stayed connected through reunions, trips, social gatherings, phone calls, texts, greeting cards — and now, sympathy cards.
Geri was an integral part of our nursing class and an even greater part of our lifelong friendship. Her sense of humor and love of adventure helped define our bond. She will be deeply missed and truly impossible to forget...

I first met Geri in the spring of 1978 when I attended one of my first Catholic Dominic Club singles events in Rochester Minnesota. Geri was one of the key organizing members of the club and made me feel very welcome. The Dominics soon became my key recreational activity outside of work and Geri and I became good friends. Geri became such a key part of my life and she was one of the most intelligent, capable, unselfish, loving, and high energy friends I have ever had. We used to be so close but life intervenes and sends us along our own paths. I am so grateful and thankful that I was able to talk to Geri two times in the last year and a half with the last time a few months ago at a fellow Dominic Club members funeral. When I first found out about Geri’s health problem in May of 2025, I began to pray for her every single day. When I saw on Facebook that Geri had passed away Friday morning, all I could do was just hang my head and cry! She was that kind of person to know and be friends with! I have absolutely no doubt that Geri is in Heaven now with the Lord, nestled in LOVE! Hopefully I will see her again when my time comes! A final word to us all to cherish those we LOVE while we still have them. I never realized how much I loved Geri until she was gone!
