Gerald “Mike” L. Kuhl

A Funeral Mass for Gerald “Mike” Lawrence Kuhl will be at 10:00am, Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Rochester, MN with Rev. Msgr. Gerald Mahon officiating.  Mr. Kuhl, 91, of Rochester, passed away on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Golden Living Center East.

Mike was born on July 29, 1918 in West Concord, MN.  He attended Pine Island School and later moved to the Chester-Rochester area with his family.

Mike married Opal Carstens on September 2, 1944 in Minneapolis, MN.  Mike and Opal moved to Detroit Lakes in 1948 and returned to Rochester in 1951.

He owned and operated the Champall Manufacturing Co. in Chester, MN.  Mike had developed patents for the Wedge-Grip Clevis, manure spreaders and the Chopper Box along with working on other farm equipment.  He manufactured and sold wagon unloaders to Lindsay Brothers in Minneapolis, MN.  His pastimes included fishing, hunting, watching auto racing and building model airplanes.  Mike belonged to the Academy of Model Aeronautics.

Gerald is survived by his wife, Opal Kuhl of Rochester, MN; son, Bill Kuhl of Winona and one brother, Robert (Lucille) Kuhl of Rochester.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 9:00 – 10:00am at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Rochester, MN.

Interment will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens, Rochester, MN.
