Gerald “Jerry” Jarvis

Gerald F. “Jerry” Jarvis, age 82, of Rochester, MN died Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at Cottagewood Senior Communities in Rochester.

Gerald was born February 10, 1936 in Mankato, MN.  He honorably served our country in the US Navy during the Korean War from 1953-1957. Jerry was united in marriage to Betty Hamann on February 10, 1959 in New Ulm, MN. The couple moved to Rochester in 1965. Jerry was a sheet metal worker. He was an active  member of the American Legion Post #92. Jerry enjoyed fishing, square dancing and polka dancing.

Jerry is preceded in death by his wife, Betty, and his siblings.

He is survived by his daughters, Debra (Dean) McManimon of Welch, Lori (Ron) Nelson of Rochester, and Sandy Dostal of Stewartville; six grandchildren; and nine  great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2018 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with Rev. Lester Horntvedt officiating. Military Honors will be accorded by the American Legion Post #92 Honor Guard. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held at a later date at Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato, MN.

It was a true pleasure getting to know your father when he was in Cottage 3 with my mom. She was won over by his charm, his kindness, and his warm personality as well as the twinkle in his eye!! He was an exceptional guy!!  Prayers for you all during this sad time.
