Gerald Alfred Schellhammer

Gerald “Shakey” Schellhammer, 76, of Rochester, MN passed away after a hard fought battle with cancer on Saturday, May 4, 2019 at his residence.

Jerry was born February 15, 1943 to Alfred and Thelma (Smith) Schellhammer in Dover, MN. He graduated from St. Charles High School. Following graduation, he served in the United States Air Force. He married Margaret Slavin in September 1964 and they later divorced.

On June 7, 1986, Jerry married Judy Lee in St. Charles.  He worked as a truck driver for Lawrence Trucking Company.

Jerry enjoyed cheering on the Minnesota Vikings, Nascar, and feeding his squirrels. He also loved hosting family Christmas’, making homemade ice cream, and gambling at the casino. He loved truck driving. He was a member of Christ Our Rock Lutheran Church for many years.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Judy; his children, Debra Danckwart of Mondovi, WI, Jeff (Kim) Schellhammer of Kasson, MN, and Kelly (Russ) Blakstad of Wanamingo, MN; stepdaughter, Julie Anteil of Buffalo, MN. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Eileen Dessner of Byron, MN, Lois Bishop of St. Charles, MN, and Ruth Schellhammer of Rochester, MN.

He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Schellhammer; sister, Joyce Heyn; and stepson, Roger Lee.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, May 13, 2019 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Limpert officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
