Georgia “Jo” Rose Witte

Georgia passed peacefully Sunday March 24, 2019 at her home with her family by her side.

Georgia was born September 30, 1931 in Simpson, MN to Marie (Bingham) and Martin Weber. She attended Pleasant Grove country school and graduated from Stewartville High School in Stewartville, MN. On January 29, 1952 she married Gerald Witte at St. Bridget Church in Simpson, MN.  They resided in Chatfield MN before moving to Tampa Bay FL for a short period of time before settling back down in Chatfield MN.

She is survived by three daughters, Robin Kent, Sue Schuchard and Tonia Hareldson all of Chatfield MN; four grandchildren, Angela (Will) Hareldson of Rochester MN, David (Carrie) Kent of Rochester MN, Tina (John) Slawson of Chatfield MN, and Amanda Schuchard of Rochester MN; three great-grandchildren, Breanna Schuchard, Katrina and Jarrod Slawson; and two step great-grandchildren, Austin and Katelynn Slawson.

She is preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband Jerry; her parents; a brother and sister; and two sons-in-laws.

She worked at Mayo Clinic for numerous years before retiring and working at the local Kwik Trip then Dairy Queen for a few years so she had “crazy money”. She enjoyed baking, fishing, camping, traveling, barbeques and spending time with her family and friends.  Her kind heart and fun-loving spirt will forever be missed. She will forever be remembered for running the first car-pool to Mayo Clinic for many Mayo employee Chatfield residents and her dedication to the Woman’s Axillary VFW Chatfield Chapter.

The family would like to thank Mayo Hospice for all the great care that was given to Jo.

Georgia wished for a private family burial. The family wishes friends will join in a celebration of life from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 30, 2019 at the Chatfield VFW.

Online condolences are welcome at www.mackenfuneralhome.com or may be sent to the family at c/o Witte Family PO Box 506 Chatfield, MN 55923.
