George E. Price, Jr.

George Price, Jr., 64, of Rochester, passed away peacefully on September 30th after a private three-year resilient journey with pancreatic cancer. He was surrounded in love during the last precious days of his life by his wife and daughters.

He was born in Stephenville, TX and raised by his parents Ethel Mae and George Price, Sr. He moved to St. Charles/Utica, MN area in elementary school and graduated from St. Charles High School in 1978.

George was introduced to the love of his life on a blind date, engaged within six months and married one year later. They happily celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary in Ft. Myers Beach Spring 2025.

George was a bartender in his younger years and also worked as a farm hand on his future in-law’s farm. He worked the next 27 years as a forklift driver at Stone Container/RockTenn/West Rock. He was best known for his trick of flipping a quarter onto the prongs of his forklift. After the plant closed, George worked various jobs until retiring in 2022.

George was a proud “girl Dad’ and loved being their youth soccer coach and basketball scorekeeper. He also enjoyed playing in his pool league, poker games with friends and neighbors, Jeep rides, and trying out different local breweries. George was a master cribbage player and enjoyed “skunking” his daughters and wife. He was a family man who enjoyed yearly vacations with his family. He was a pro-packer and mover and always helped move his daughters each and every time during their journeys & travels in life. George was a dedicated, but often disappointed MN sports fan, watching them every chance he had. George & Gail loved to attend concerts and enjoyed fun adventures, as long as they did it together.

George is survived by his wife, Gail Price of Rochester; two daughters Katie of Rochester; Ashley & Paul McManus of Corcoran, MN; and four grand-kitties. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Audrey Hahn, brothers Hubert Teslow and Don Teslow, and in-laws Earl and Elaine Timm.

A special thanks to George’s Mayo Clinic Care Teams and Mayo Hospice for helping George through his journey.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Monday, October 6, 2025, in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers and plants (due to allergies and toxins to our fur babies), the family requests donations be made in George’s memory to American Cancer Society, Fight Pancreatic Cancer, or PANCAN.org.

The Gutierrez Family

Gail, Katie and Ashley,

I am deeply sorry for the loss of your husband and father. He was such a good man, had a great sense of humor, and always a smile on his face. My father, Mike, got along with him so well and loved doing basketball with him while Katie and I grew up. Praying for you in your time of need and may you feel God’s comfort in your time of loss.

Jordan Hoffman, Mike and Sue Hayden

George, I'm so sad to say goodbye, my friend.  We had a lot of fun times over the last 40 or so years and I will miss talking baseball you.  To Gail, Katie, Ashley and Paul, my sincere condolences.  George's earthbound journey is over, but he is free of pain and with his heavenly family now, and his memory lives on in all of us.  My love to you all.  Love, Lulu.
