A Celebration of Life service for Frederick A. Domnick will be held at 11:00am Sunday, March 4, 2012 at Macken Funeral Home (River Park Chapel) in Rochester with Pastor Doug Johannsen officiating. A gathering of friends and family will begin at 10:00am prior to the service.
Mr. Domnick, 69, of Rochester, died Monday February 27, 2012 at his home.
Fred was born August 21, 1942 in Peoria, IL to Alvin and Veva Domnick. He graduated from Morton High School in 1960 and earned his B.S. degree in 1964 from Southern Illinois University – Carbondale. He served in the United States Air Force as a First Lieutenant and was honorably discharged in 1971. Mr. Domnick was a Disabled American Veteran. He earned his MBA from University of Wisconsin – Parkside in 1984.
On December 10, 1967 he married Linda Murphey in Peoria, IL. The couple lived in Illinois and Wisconsin, before moving to Rochester in 1986. Fred worked for Mayo Clinic as a Senior Systems Analyst for 17 years before retiring in 2003. He was a Certified Management Accountant, and was the President of the Southern Minnesota chapter of Institute of Management Accountants. He was a member of six Toastmasters clubs in Southeastern Minnesota, winning several awards.
Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Linda; two sons, Nathan(Roxanne) of Virginia Beach, VA and Alan of Rochester, MN; grandchildren Alex, Andy, Cameron, Emerson and Cody; two brothers, John of Peoria, IL, and James(Diane) of Meadville, PA; two sisters, Mary(Dave) Wiegand of Drakesville, IA, and Ann(Joe) O’Neill of Peoria, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Fred was a long-time member of Grace Communion International Church where he served as speaker and deacon.
Fred enjoyed spending time with family, especially taking pictures at family gatherings. He enjoyed art, painting, and photography and was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and the Chicago Bears.
In accordance with Fred’s wishes, his body was donated to Mayo Clinic to advance medical education.
Memorials are preferred to the Poverello Fund at St. Marys Hospital of Rochester, MN.
