Condolences
The family of Francis “Pookie” P. Delaney has received the following condolences.
I knew poorly as a very kind man he would always come to hyvee and ask for fresh goolash. I never knew what goolash was till I met this man. I worked at hyvee from 2016 to 2020, every time he would come in the store my day would go from terriable to not too bad at all. I came to came about him very much. I enjoyed our talks when he would stop by the kichen. Sometimes he would be like here have a beer on me and give me a little tip... when my shift was over I would go home and drank my beer and wonder if I would get a chance to have one with him. I’m very torn up to hear about his passing and hope he wasn’t in any pain. I would always ask him to shoot poop with me.. Pooky I will remember you till my time comes. I miss you and I offer my respest on this day May 28, 2020 if I knew I would have been there at your memorial I’m so very sorry. Please Rest In Peace pookie I’m going to have a beer for you tonight and think about all our fun times...Love prentiss Andrew Brumfield Jr.
To the Delaney family, We are so sorry for your lost. Pookie was one of a kind. We enjoyed meeting him for Happy Hour and a few cold ones. He tried to act like this big tough guy, but he had a heart of gold. I enjoyed all the stories he told me of his travels. He had showen us many pictures and DVD's he had taped and took. He shared a lot of memories us, and we enjoyed them all. We are going to miss your conversations with us.
I know he is with God now and looking down at all of us. Here is to you Pookie!!!! You will be missed

Blessings for the family of Pookie and I am sorry for the tenderness you know, but we have a certainty that while he died, we know he lives. He was really a believer and I always appreciated his presence at Mass here at St. John. I was two years ahead of him at Lourdes and then worked with his Dad, Tim, at Sand and Gravel during my College years and time in the Seminary. Clearly, he was a "chip off from the old block" as they carried some of the same characteristics in being full of life and caring for people in a very real way. Pookie had those "rough edges" that made him so real and alive with his humanity.
Eternal rest grant unto Pookie, O Lord, and may perpetual Light shine on you and I know you are embraced in a dwelling place that lasts forever,
Father Jerry Mahon
Co-Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist

Had been thinking of Pookie this past 2 weeks, only to find out of his passing today. We (many of your friends) will miss you from the chats/good times over the years. For your family, it was a pleasure knowing Pookie. Loved his directness and warmth - you knew where he stood on life. RIP my friend. Glad we got to surprise/celebrate on your last birthday w/your family and friends. Keep that little smile you let out once in a while!
Thx spookiest for your service and friendship. Sorry I rolled that sporty car in 1965. Thankfully you weren’t hurt so you could go for 50 years.
You will be missed by all the lads and many others.
Mike
I am sorry for your loss.
I will miss the quirky conversations we had at the grocery store. They usually involved talk of the weather, beverages, and if there was any good chocolate on sale.
Goodbye my friend, we will miss our neighbor.
I will miss our sharing times about work and life. We had our time visiting in the field of construction, about the mutual friends and humorous stories, all were touching.
I’ll miss seeing you mowing the hill, with your hat and feather rising in sight and then dropping down again.
God bless you.
Pookie had a quiet heart of gold. He was a good classmate and friend. Prayers to Theresa & Dan, Mary & Gary and their children.
Very sad we and the military cannot send him off properly.??????
To my cousin Pook and his 2 sisters Mary. And Theresa , Diana and. I send u r luv God bless ..
I knew Pookie through grade school and high school. He was always kind to me. I think he wanted to portray a "tough guy" personna but he had one of the kindest hearts. He really was a compassionate, caring guy. He didn't have a lot to say, but he would let you know when he was for or against something. I didn't keep up with Pookie much after high school, but in those early years he was the kind of friend you would away want to have ---- loyal and always had your back. He will be missed. Prayers to the family.
Peace and love to you...RIP Pookie, you will be missed.
A good man. RIP Pookie.
Sorry for your loss. I grew up in the same neighborhood with him. I remember playing hide and seek with him and other neighbor kids. He was a fun guy always made you laugh.
