Frances Claire Robb

Frances Claire “Fran” Robb, 85, of Rochester passed away peacefully at Mayo Clinic Hospital St. Marys Campus on October 17, 2019.

Frances Claire Jindra was born on October 8, 1934 in Omaha, NE to Frank and Mildred (Richling) Jindra. She graduated from Benson High School near Omaha. On November 6, 1954 she married Duane Robb in Omaha. They lived briefly in Ames, IA before settling in Rochester to raise their family. While raising the family, she decided to go back to school, ultimately obtaining a PhD in Education from the University of Minnesota. Fran was a teacher and principal at numerous Rochester elementary schools, retiring in 1998. She was a devout Catholic and longtime member of Church of the Resurrection in Rochester. In her retirement, she volunteered at church, and St. Marys Hospital. She and her husband traveled extensively, visiting many places around the world. As her peripheral neuropathy progressed, it became harder for Fran to move and speak but she maintained a positive outlook on life. She loved to read and adored spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her husband Duane of Rochester, her children Steve (Beth) of Rochester, Mark (Sue) of Rochester, Karen (Todd) Wheeler of Burnsville, Kathy of Rochester, grandchildren Jeff, Lonnett, Jenny, Annie, Danny, Alex, Michael, Scott, great-grandchildren Hannah, Hadley, Lydia, and Henry.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Jack and Jim.

The Memorial Mass for Fran will be on Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at 11:00AM at Church of the Resurrection Catholic Church in Rochester. Visitation will be on Monday evening, October 21, 2019 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home from 4:00pm until 7:00pm, and one hour prior to the Mass at church.

Condolences

The family of Frances Claire Robb has received the following condolences.

Duane & Family,

Yvonne & I send our thoughts, love, & most sincere sympathy over the loss of your wife Fran. With the passing of someone we love, it is hard to know what to say. I have shared the following story many times, & folks seem to appreciate it, so will share it with you too.

Many years ago, I was in Havant, England on a business trip and was looking for a place to go to Mass on Saturday evening or Sunday morning. I found no Catholic Church in Havant, so drove to the neighboring town of Chichester. I found a huge Catholic Church & the marquis indicated Mass at 5:30 PM. Checking my watch it was 5 PM. Perfect! I found a parking place, & walked back to the church. Right next to the old church (Cornerstone 1049 AD) was a very old Cemetery. I saw this quote on one of the gravestones. It touched my heart in its truth, & seems appropriate to share it with you today.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal.

We know you have many great memories of your life with Fran. We hope those memories sustain you all at this difficult time.

I was glad I had the opportunity to see you both just a couple weeks ago at Shorewood.

Again, we send our prayers & love, Al & Yvonne Walz

Dear Karen, Todd, Annie, Alex and Scott,

We are so sorry for your the loss of your mother and grandmother.

Sheila and Mark

Sorry for your loss.   Prayers to you and yours.  Will miss seeing her at 8:30. God bless all!

Take comfort in the love that God and others have for you. You are always in my thoughts and prayers in this time of prayer and love.

Duane and family

We are sending prayers and sympathy to you and the whole family!  Fran was a real delight to work with on many of Resurrection Events over the years!  Sorry we can’t be with you to celebrate her life!  We know you have many great memories!

Love and sympathy,

Bill & Mary Ann Kleis

Mrs. Robb was my 5th grade teacher at Edison Elementary School.  Through her I met Karen and I took some riding lessons from Karen before buying my own horse when I was in 6th grade.

I remember Mrs. Robb as a kind and generous lady. As a teacher she was generous with her time for her students and patient with us.  She was also generous with her family (thanks Karen!).  I will always remember both of you.

May you find joy in all of your memories and know she is watching over you until you are reunited again.

Holly Burch

I am so sorry for your loss. I have many vivid memories of your mom growing up in the neighborhood and also the help she gave me when I started teaching. Wonderful lady and family. Prayers and love to your whole family. ❤

Sara and I are so sorry for your loss.  What a wonderful woman.  She will be missed by many.
