Fabian L. Macken, Sr.

The funeral Mass for Fabian Leo Macken, Sr. will be at 10:30AM, Friday, July 8, 2011 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Rochester with the Rev. Mark C. McNea officiating.  A visitation will be held from 5:00PM – 8:00PM on Thursday, July 7, 2011 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Mr. Macken, 70, of Apple Valley (formerly of Rochester), died on Monday, July 4, 2011 of pneumonia at St. Josephs Hospital in St. Paul.  He had been ill for 2 weeks.

Fabian was born in Rochester on February 5, 1941 to Don and Mabel (Mogen) Macken.  He was a 1959 graduate of John Marshall High School and then attended the University of Minnesota.   He had resided in Waco Texas, Longmont Colorado and Cedar Rapids, Iowa, before returning to live in Rochester where he worked in auto sales.  He was married to Mary Jo McNeil, and was later divorced.

He is survived by one daughter, Erin (Jerry) Thiel of Dysart Iowa; one son, Fabian Macken II of Apple Valley; two grandsons, Nate Bryant of Dysart Iowa and Tyson Macken of Apple Valley, and one brother, Jerry (Jane) Macken of Rochester.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and a granddaughter, Taylor Macken.

Fabian was a great friend to many and a wonderful Dad.  He enjoyed working in auto sales and golfing.
