Evelyn C. Tarara

Evelyn Cynthia Tarara, 92, died Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Madonna Towers in Rochester where she had been in nursing care since March 2011.
Evelyn was born on December 1, 1920 in Mazeppa, Minnesota to William and Josephine (Roland) Judd. She graduated from Rochester Junior College. She worked at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester for Doctor William Randolph Lovelace II and continued to work for him in Dayton, Ohio and in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
She married Richard W. Tarara in 1947 in Rochester and then lived with him in South Bend, Indiana for a short time before they moved to St. Paul, Minnesota. They built an earth-sheltered home near Deerwood, Minnesota in 1981 for their retirement. In 2002 they moved to Byron and in 2010 to Madonna Meadows in Rochester.
Evelyn volunteered many hours for her parish churches in St. Paul and Deerwood. She was also active in the Rosary Society, the women’s auxiliaries of both the Knights of Columbus and the Lion’s Club. In addition she passed on to her family her love of making bread, gardening, and sewing.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard, her brother Haven and his wife Mary. She is survived by her brother Lewis (Janice) Judd and her sisters Donna (Whitey) Swanson and Jeanette (Charles) Schlotthauer; her children Cindy Scudiero of Winona, Stephanie (Stephen) Willbanks of Stratford, Vermont, and Dan (Kathleen) Tarara of Rochester; six grandchildren: Rebecca, Jennifer, Anthony, Allison, Simon, and Karen; and three great-granddaughters.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Madonna Towers Chapel. The visitation will be held in the hour prior to the service.
