Eva K. Bennett

Eva Katherine Bennett, 88 of Rochester passed away on January 17, 2013 at Cedarview Care Center in Owatonna, MN.

Eva Katherine Lind was born on September 4, 1924, one of ten children, to Heinrich and Anna Lind in Windsor, Colorado. She graduated from Windsor High School as Salutatorian of her class. She moved to Minnesota and lived with her relatives in Bemidji, where she began her nursing education. She later moved to Rochester and enrolled in the St. Mary’s School of Nursing, graduating in 1952 as a Registered Nurse. She was a member of the Lambda Beta Society, a national honor society for the profession of Respiratory Care. Eva worked at St. Mary’s Hospital until her retirement. She became a private duty nurse, and later worked for the Salvation Army Adult Daycare Program which included playing the organ for services. She was active in the Mayo E.C.G. (Electrocardiogram) training program with her good friend Jeff Ward.

Eva loved music, playing the piano, pump-organ and calliope for many years. She also enjoyed teaching and baking.

She is survived by a daughter Sheila Bennett(special friend Jim Cash) of Midwest City, OK, sons James “Jim” Bennett of Hayfield, Randolph “Randy” Bennett of Rochester, six grandchildren Ana, Blair, Amy, Katherine, Jamie, Daniel and eight great-grandchildren Alexis, Jacqulyn, Aryka, Gage, Kaylee, Blake, Cheyne and Colby.

She is preceded in death by her parents, four sisters, and five brothers and a granddaughter Elizabeth.

A memorial service for Eva will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, January 20, 2013 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Rochester. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Burial of ashes will be in Grandview Memorial Gardens at a later date.
