Eugene Szuberski

A Memorial Mass for Eugene F. Szuberski will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, December 21, 2009 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Rochester with the Rev. Timothy Reker officiating.  Friends may call at the church one hour before the service.  Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post 92 at the church.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at a later date.

Eugene passed away peacefully on December 17, 2009 at Sunrise Cottages in Rochester of Alzheimer’s.

Eugene was born November 27, 1928 in East Chain, MN to John F. and Anna R. (Maday) Szuberski.  He graduated from East Chain High School and joined the Air Force serving in the Korean War as an airplane mechanic.  After the war he worked for Gopher Aviation as a mechanic.  On November 19, 1957 he married Joan Bannon at St. Francis in Rochester, MN.  He also worked for 22 years as a dairy manager for Barlow Foods in Rochester retiring in 1990.  He spent most of his past time enjoying airshows and studying airplanes.  He loved to reminisce about his days in the war and working on the planes.

He is survived by his wife Joan D. (Bannon), three sons Steven E. (Brenda) Rochester, Michael D. (Denette) Byron, and Mark A. (fiancé Stacey Curtis) Rochester, one daughter in-law Deanna Szuberski (Grant) Clermont, two brothers John F. Szuberski Fairmont, MN, Ray (Lorraine) Fairmont, MN, and nine grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, two twin daughters Cynthia and Christina, and one son Scott D. Szuberski.
