Ervin F. Hodge, 94, of Rochester, MN died peacefully November 13, at Season’s Hospice House.
Ervin Hodge was born in Hayfield, MN to Fred and Esther Hodge on February 2nd, 1922. He grew up on the Hodge farm in rural Kasson area. On November 23rd, 1946 he married Dorothy Kent at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kasson. He worked for the railroad, Hormel food, was a farmer, and then retired from AMPI dairy where he worked for 33 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren, fishing, hunting, camping, dancing, and playing cards. Mr. Hodge was a member of Zumbro Lutheran Church.
He is survived by four sons, Larry (Darlene) of Sapulpa, OK, Duane (Joan) of Stewartville, Randy of Bellevue, WA, and Dale of St. Peter. Two daughters, Susanne (Michael) Leslie of Rochester, Sandra (Evan) Kramer of Rochester, 16 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and one great great granddaughter, one brother Donald Hodge of Austin, and one sister Cora Day of Rochester, and a special friend Geraldine (Jerry) Hennessey of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his wife, a granddaughter, three brothers, and four sisters.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to be made to the Military Order of the Purple Heart Chapter 7110, located at the VFW in Rochester MN. or a Veterans organization of your choice.
Memorials can be made in honor of Ervin Hodge to your favorite organization.
The funeral will be at 11:00 am Friday at Zumbro Lutheran Church in Rochester located at 624 3rd Avenue SW, with Pastor Jason Bryan-Wegner officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Kasson.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm Thursday at Macken Funeral Home River Park Chapel, in Rochester, and an hour before the service at the church on Friday.
