Erland J. Boelter

The funeral Mass of Erland J. Boelter will be at 11:00 am on Monday, July 30, 2018 at Pax Christi Catholic Church with Rev. Thé Hoang officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, July 29 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Monday. Burial will be in Pleasant Prairie Cemetery.

Erland J. Boelter died July 25, 2018 peacefully at his home surrounded by his family.

Erland Johnnie Boelter was born on July 1, 1920 and grew up in the Salem-Rockdell area. He served four years in the United States Army Field Artillery during World War II. He was in combat in the Pacific Theater, Okinawa, and Saipan. Erland married his one true love, Katherine D. Braun of Rochester on May 10, 1947 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Rochester. In 1947, Erland and Kate purchased their farm, where Erland lived and worked for 71 years of his life.

Mr. Boelter was most proud of his family. He and Katherine shared 55 years of marriage and their devotion to one another was an inspiration to those around them. Erland was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and he will live forever in their hearts.

Erland was a farmer and livestock dealer north of Rochester. He was a longtime member of the Eagles, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Pax Christi Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, playing cards, and visiting with family, friends, and neighbors.

He is survived by his five children, Christine (Peter) Galuska of Rochester, Elaine (James) Babcock of Santa Rosa, California, Thomas (Shirl) Boelter of Chatfield, Marilyn (Marvin) Koppen of Maplewood, and Robert (Rebecca) Boelter of Rochester; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren and a sister, Barbara Ladsten of Rochester. He was preceded in death by his wife, two brothers, and three sisters.

We miss you, Dad. You were strict when you needed to be, loving and caring at all times, and always there when we needed you. You were the best. We love you.

Memorials are preferred to St. Jude’s or the charity of donor’s choice.

Condolences

The family of Erland J. Boelter has received the following condolences.

our deepest sympathy to the Boelter family.  Errand and Kate and family were wonderful neighbors.  I have many cherished memories of growing up in our neighborhood.

Howard and Marie (Frederichs) Gary

Please accept my heartfelt condolences. While no words can erase the pain of your loss at this time, you can look forward to the promise at Revelation 21:4 – “God will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning, nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” Death was not God's purpose for us. However, when this promise is fulfilled, we will enjoy life the way our Grand Creator purposed for us…forever on earth. (Psalms 37:11, 29)  May your warm memories bring you a measure of comfort during this time.

My name is Judy Buettner. I have known your father and mother for many years. At the time, I was married to John Carlson and we lived "just over the hill" from Frederichs. Earl and Katherine ( we called her Kate) were such wonderful neighbors. We visited them often, especially me as I asked your mom for advice on living in the country or how to cook something. They had a wonderful party on New Years Eve which we always attended and had so much fun. All the neighbor came and other friends as well.

They were both so respected and loved by all of us. I married Jim Buettner in 1986, after John died, and was out of the state when Kate died so I didn't know about it. Jim lived just one road away for your parents too.

We pray that the wonderful memories you have of Earl will bless and give you strength and peace at this time. You are so blessed to have Earl for 98 years, so wonderful!

Judy and Jim Buettner

My condolences to the family for the loss of your loved one, Erland, and may these Bible scriptures be of comfort to you in your times of sorrow, John 5:28, 29, Isaiah 25:8.

May your memories of your dad ease the pain of his loss.  June and Jr.

I want to introduce myself to the family. My name probably doesn't mean much unless you can think back to our visits to your home and your visits to my home in Winona. I am the daughter of Ernest and Nina Mahlke. Your father and mother were friends of my parents for many years.

My sister, Sandy Tschida, mentioned your father had died and told me to go on line. She lives in Rochester.

I live in Fairmont, MN. I am retired from many years of teaching elementary school here and several other towns we were located at. My husband died in 1999. My son Peter lives here also.

I do remember you all and hope that my message will help you remember our family. I send you all my deepest sympathy and pray that you will receive comfort in your loss from our Heavenly Father. May He give you His abiding love. My prayers are with you.

Dear Boelter Family,

Erland and Kate were both so special to me and will be dearly missed.

I have been friends with Marilyn since high school and have spent many many fun times out at the Boelter farm.   I was blessed to spend some time with Erland not too long ago on a beautiful sunny day just talking.

Erland is now with the good Lord and his first love Kate.  He lived his whole life to get to where he is now.  Happy and healthy!

Many Prayers, Hugs, and Rainbows!!!
