Elmer P. Rubow

Elmer Paul Rubow, 90 of Rochester, MN, passed away on January 15, 2024 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. Elmer was born on August 21, 1933 in Rochester, to Paul and Amelia (Buske) Rubow. In 1955, he married Phyllis (Reed) Rubow and made their home in the Chester area for 68 years. He was a loving husband and a devoted father to his son Jess. Elmer was also a proud grandfather to Kadi, Mitchell, and Tia.

Elmer had a successful career as a farmer and was the owner/operator of Rubow Truck LLC which included hauling milk for Land O’Lakes in the earlier years, to recently carrying U.S. mail until his passing. He dedicated his life to his work and family and made a significant impact in his community. His hobbies included going to horse shows, showing horses for a short time, tending to the farm, and attending his grandkid’s activities.

Elmer is survived by his wife Phyllis, son Jess (Sue) Rubow, and grandchildren Kadi, Mitchell and Tia. He is also survived by his sister Charlene Whitcomb of Frankfort, KY, and many nieces and nephews. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Amelia, as well as an infant son.

The Funeral Service for Elmer will be at 11:00AM on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service, in the chapel. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester, MN.

Elmer’s kind nature, humorous personality, strong work ethic, and love for his family will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May his soul rest in eternal peace.

The family of Elmer P. Rubow has received the following condolences.

Elmer picked up my milk for many years.  He was always good for a nice cheerful visit. Rest from your labors.

Sure will miss Elmer.  Unloaded a lot of mail at Fedex from his trucks  My condolences to all of you.  Elmer will be sorely missed by all.

Elmer was a great man to learn from in my early years.  Cherish the memories as most that I have still bring a smile.  Prayers to you all during this time.  Don and Dawn Kullot

We're sorry to hear of your father's passing Jess , our thoughts are with you and your family.

Rubow Family, I am so incredibly sorry for your significant loss. Elmer was such a fun guy to come be around, always making everyone smile. He will be missed by all of us. We are so sorry we can not be there today to celebrate his life. You all are in our thoughts and prayers. We will think of him often.  - Joy

I wish to convey my condolences to the family. I bought hay from Elmer many times over the years and also helped him with his horses now and then. He was always in a good mood and with a smile on his face and a snappy comeback. He will be missed.

I am so sorry to heart of ELmers passing. Having lived on the “pasture” side of your farm for the last 35 plus years has been a delight and so enjoyed visiting when you were checking the cows. He will be missed by all. Anything I can do let me know. I have more time on my hands now than ever before. Sincerely, Sharon July Bauernfeind

Trust in the Lord's mercy and kindness.
Elmer as we knew him was kind and generous with a gentle spirit. We enjoyed stopping by to visit and buying hay from the farm in summer times.

Condolences on Elmer's passing.    My mother remembers Elmer from Fisher Oil Company days when he drove truck - she said he always had a smile on his face and joked with everyone in the company, never complaining.  Hugs to Kadi, Mitchell and Tia  - Elmer was a good grandpa to them.

So sorry for all of you. Anytime I saw Elmer he smiled and laughed like to joke around. Prayers for all of you.

I’m so very heartbroken to have learned of Elmers passing.  Having Elmer and Phyllis as next door neighbors for 40 years has been a blessing for me. Always there to lend a hand. I will miss him pulling in the back yard on the gator to chat. Hugs and prayers to Phyllis, Jess, Sue, Kadi, Mitchell and Tia. Love all of you like family, you’ve all been so helpful and kind through the years. He will be so missed. ??

Phillis  I'm so so sorry ?  I can't be there for you .I will always ❤️ you
