Edward Martin

Ed Martin, aged 64, died on August 19, 2018 in a tragic motorcycle accident. Ed was born on March 24, 1954 in Fall River, MA.

Ed is survived by his wife, Denise of Rochester, MN; three children, Keith Martin of Fall River, Ma, Joshua Martin (Lindsay) of Kasson, MN, and McKena Martin (Dennis Lawler) of St. Paul MN; his sister, Pat Jackson of North Dartmouth, MA; grandchildren include Lee Martin and Luna Martin. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Laura Martin of Fall River, MA; and a son, Lee of Fall River, MA.

Ed was a devoted husband, a loving father and an adoring grandfather. He cared for Luna every Monday and documented detailed reports of their time together. Ed was our go to husband, father, and friend who dropped everything to lend a hand. Additionally, he will forever be remembered for having provided exceptional care, comfort and love to his mother-in-law, Cathy, who passed away last August.

Ed was a veteran of the Gulf War and also served at various military installations in the United States as well as Japan. He and his family relocated to Rochester, MN following his enlistment in the Marine Corps. In keeping with military service and training, Ed was proud to have served his country and carried discipline to his civilian life. Ed recently retired from full-time employment, but enjoyed part-time employment at a senior living facility in Rochester.

A special thank you to Mike, Jody, Justin, Kayla, Greg and Lisa who stayed by Ed’s side to offer comfort and support.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 27th in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with Rev. James J. Seitz officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in River Park Chapel. A burial with military honors will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.

Ed’s family suggests memorial donations to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society – nmcrs.org or St. Judes – stjudes.org.

Dear Denise. Your loss is so deeply felt. I feel a hole in my heart. Eddie was brought up with us close by. He loved to laugh and tease his cousins. We shall miss him I know. I will keep his laughter his smile and the hugs and kisses we shared in my thoughts. Love to you and your family. Auntie Viv also wishes from Uncle Nibby and Cousin Judy Silvia

Rest in peace, my cousin. Condolences to my dear cousin Pat and to all of Eddy's immediate family.

Denise and family,

I can not imagine the pain you feel. But I can share my memories. Ed was a amazing man, a man like no other I have ever met. He had such a warm caring soul. He was always greeting me with a smile and warm welcome. His laugh and smile contagious.  He was always so good about giving a hug good bye. You could feel his warmth and concern for others. He always lit up when talking of you all. And you could feel his pain when he lost your mom Denise.

I was truly blessed to have met Ed and call him a friend.

Many tears, hugs, and prayers,

Dawn D Heaser
