Edmond E. Comartin Jr. DDS

Edmond E. Comartin, Jr., DDS, died in the comfort of his own home at the age of 88 on Saturday, March 12, 2011.

I was born in Rochester, Saint Marys Hospital, on Sept. 23, 1922. I graduated from Rochester School System in 1940. I attended Rochester Community College, St. Thomas University, and the University of Minnesota Dental School class of 1946. I served in the Navy as a Lieutenant in the Dental Corp from 1946-48 in the Aleutian Islands, Alaska. I returned to Rochester and the practice of Dentistry with my father and practiced for 44 years. In 1946 I married Evelyn Ree of Minneapolis. We were later divorced. In 1969 I married Josephine “Jody” Moore of Minneapolis.

I belonged to the Rochester Dental Society and served as President. I also belonged to the Southeast District Dental Society, Minnesota State Dental Society, The American Dental Association and the Society of Dental Hypnosis. I have belonged to Kiwanis, Isaac Walton League, Knights of Columbus, and the Junior Chamber of Commerce. I served as president of the Rochester Figure Skating Club, Soiree Dance Club, Advisory Board of the Cronin Homes, and Senior Citizens Center of Rochester.

I was preceded in death by former wife, Evelyn Ree, wife, Josephine “Jody” Comartin, daughter, Catherine Halgrimson, and grandson, Eddie Comartin IV. Survived by sons, Edmond III, and Robert (Elba) both of San Diego, Calif., and David (Imelda) of Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; a sister Ann Taylor Jones of Yuma, Ariz.; three granddaughters, and three great-grandsons; and special friend and nanny, Arlene Prinzing and her loving family.

Hobbies; enjoyed hunting, fishing, tennis, dancing, crossword puzzles, reading, pool, cards, sleeping, cigarettes, booze. ( I was just one hell of a guy).

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 18, 2011, at the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday, at the River Park Chapel. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Rochester.

Memorials may be given to the Rochester Senior Center.
