Duane Paul Price, DDS.

Duane Paul Price, 63, of Rochester, MN, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 30, 2020.  Duane was a devoted husband to his wife Debbie of 34 years and a wonderful dedicated father to his two daughters, Brittany and Melissa.

Duane was born on March 20, 1957, in Winona, MN, the son of Henry and Joan.  After high school graduation, Duane enlisted in the U.S. Navy where his passion for dentistry began as a dental technician.  He went on to receive his bachelor’s degree from St. Mary’s College in Winona, MN, where he met his wife Debbie.  Prior to starting dental school, Duane was selected by the United States Navy Officer Candidate School, Newport, RI and earned his commission as a Naval officer.  He obtained his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Minnesota and pursued a General Practice Residency at the Naval Dental Clinic Bethesda, MD.  Duane was assigned to the USS Iwo Jima (LPH-2), Norfolk, VA as the dental department head for a two-year tour.  Commander Price was then stationed at Little Creek Amphibious Base, VA and Naval Station Great Lakes, IL before joining the US Navy Reserve; retiring in 2006.

Duane and Debbie married on October 26, 1985 and soon after embarked on an adventure with the Navy; bringing up their young family through multiple relocations and returning back home to Minnesota in 1993 to pursue his dream of a private dental practice.  He found his niche at Stone Barn Dentistry where he provided dental care for 27 years; he truly enjoyed practicing dentistry and building friendships with patients and staff.  SBD holds a special place in the hearts of his family.

Duane was energized by hard work in and out of the dental office, his hands never seemed to rest.  He spent his free time gardening, working on projects with Deb, golfing with Brittany, helping Melissa train for her races (Duane being an 11-time marathon finisher himself), and throwing balls for their golden retriever Rigsby.  He loved to cook with his garden vegetables, bake his famous apple crisp and read his favorite paperback books.  Above all, Duane treasured spending time with his family, whether they were hiking, playing cards, watching the Packers game, or creating memories on family vacations; he was the ultimate family man.  Duane always had a plan for the day and never let a day go by without purpose.

Duane was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, the Zumbro Valley and SE District Dental Societies, and Northern Hills Mens Club.

Duane will be remembered for his calm and patient manner, his talent for mentoring, his one liner jokes, his dedication to his work as a dentist, his golden heart, and his contagious smile that will be missed dearly.  He is survived by his wife, Deborah; his daughters, Brittany and Melissa (fiance’ Mike Carman);  his sisters, Mary Jo (Fred) Schreiber and Carol (Ron) Paulson; father and mother in-law, Robert and Sharon Sieracki; sisters in-law, Jeanette (Gene) Nelson and Teresa (Mark) Liffrig;  beloved nieces and nephews and many dear friends.  He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Debbie and brother, Francis.

A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday August 15, 2020 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with Rev. Thomas Loomis officiating. Friends may greet the family from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church on Saturday. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery of Winona.

Memorials can be made to Mayo Clinic Pancreatic Cancer Research for early detection.

I am so sad to hear of Dr. Price's passing! He has been my dentist for many years. (He also provided dental care to my father and brother.) He was such a kind man. He will truly be missed by so many!

Condolences and prayers to his family who must miss him so much!

Dr. Price was my dentist and such a kind and sincere man.  My sympathies to his family in the loss of their loved one.  So sorry.

So sorry to hear about this and saying prayers of comfort for Dr. Price‘s family. He was my dentist for over 20 years and also a kind and caring friend. He isirreplaceable.

I just learned of Dr. Price's passing,  My heart aches for his family.  He was a kind and caring dentist and a kind man.  I was so impressed when I went to my second appointment with him.  He started by greeting me and asking how my husband and son were calling them by name. He also mentioned the Packers since he remembered that I was a Packer fan!  He also gave me his home phone number over Easter weekend when I was having issues with a tooth.  In addition, he saw me on a Friday afternoon when the office was closed to smooth out a broken tooth before I left for a soccer tournament..  He truly cared for his patients.  I have told those stories to many others who I referred to his kind, competent care.  I am so very sorry, the world and the field of dentistry lost a shining star!  My sincere condolences to his family.

so so sorry.  Condolences to his family.

I just learned today of Dr. Price's passing.  I'm so very sorry. He truly was one of the kindest, most gentle men I have ever met. I will miss him. No dentist can fill his shoes.

Once when my late mother was visiting, she got a terrible toothache. She was petrified of dentists! Well, Dr. Price agreed to see her right away. He won my mother over and soothed her fears. He had to refer her to an oral surgeon, but he assured her that he would also be very gentle. It was amazing. I loved him before, but my heart overflowed to see him tend to my 90+ year old mother with compassion and respect.

Please accept my most sincere condolences.

My father and one of my very best friends also died of pancreatic cancer...my sincere sympathy and prayers to the family.

I'm so sorry.   I hope good memories will help you through this difficult time.  Very kind person and a great dentist.

Sympathies to the family of Dr. Price.  He has been our family dentist for years. He was always kind and pleasant.  He was so compassionate when treating my Mother, who has Alzheimer's.  The world was a better place because of him. So sorry for your loss.  God bless.

When our family found out about Duane passing, we were deeply saddened. My wife and I knew Duane for over 20 years. He always treated us with a smile and made us laugh when we saw him. He made my children feel safe and welcomed every time we went to see him. He will be missed. Our deepest sympathy and prayers go out to the Price family.

My deepest sympathy to the family of Dr. Price. He was my dentist since 1997.  He always made me smile.  I can only imagine how much you will miss him.  Be comforted knowing he was a good man who lived his life well and loved his family.

I just heard from calling the office, to check on him and see if I owed a bill, the news of Dr. Price's passing. I am in tears and heartbroken that I will not see him on my next appointment on the 21st. I would ALWAYS look forward, at the end, to his final approval of my cleaning, his kind words to me, and mostly the soft human gesture of a couple pats on my shoulder to keep up the good work.

I have been his patient, upon moving to Rochester, since 1992 and have ALWAYS had the feeling of being in confident, caring hands for my smile.

I praise our God for guiding me to Stone Barn's office.  He will be missed by MANY.

BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY FOR SHARING HIM.

My heart breaks for the Price family. I went to grade school with Brittany. Sending so many thoughts and prayers to Duane’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time.

Price Family,

Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.  Dr. Price was always so generous of his time and energy to me and my family.  I enjoyed the ability to not only be mentored by Dr. Price and ultimately get into dental school but he also did my swearing in ceremony for the Navy as well.  When I moved back to Rochester after my time in the Navy I was lucky enough to work with Dr. Price on patient care and also on the ZVDS board.  May you find peace and comfort during this difficult time.

Duane's family,

The Holy Spirit Knights of Columbus express our deepest sympathy at this time of the passing of Duane. He was part of the our early shift for our pancake breakfasts. His opportunity was prepping the eggs and making the pancake mix, a very fine job he did! He would always keep me on my toes to get the coffee made right away, he was one of our official coffee testers, if it met his approval we knew the crowd would also enjoy it! The Holy Spirit parish community will miss all the things that he did in helping with other activities with the KC Council and the parish. We offer our prayers as you mourn the loss of your husband and father, trust in our Lord that Duane is celebrating his new life with his God and Lord!

Jerome Lensing, Grand Knight, Holy Spirit KC Council

I met Dr. Price in 1997 he was the only Dentist I had ever gone to in my whole life. My teeth were in horrible shape I knew it and he certainly knew it. Yet he never made me feel ashamed or embarrassed. Slowly one by one he repaired them. The whole time he built my confidence on how to maintain my teeth. I will miss him dearly. I didn’t even know he was sick. He saved my teeth. Rest In Peace Dr. Price I shall forever miss you.

your Patient,

Mark Hanson.
