Duane E. Robb

Duane Ellis Robb, 92, of Rochester, passed away peacefully at his home on May 13th, 2024.

Duane was born October 20, 1931, on a farm south of Grand Meadow to Floyd and Lela (Olson) Robb.  He attended one- room school houses until eventually moving to Rochester where he graduated from Rochester High School in 1950. After his brother, Floyd, died in the Korean War, he felt compelled to join the Air Force. He was stationed in Omaha, Nebraska, where he met his future wife. On November 6, 1954, he married Frances Jindra in Omaha. They lived briefly in Ames, Iowa, before settling in Rochester to raise their family.

Duane worked at Crenlo in the engineering department until his retirement in 1998. He also had a side business where he built camping trailers. He and Fran traveled extensively, visiting six continents and dozens of countries.

In retirement, he and Fran volunteered at church, served coffee at Saint Marys Hospital, and enjoyed playing in numerous card clubs.

Duane was a family man who loved to plan all kinds of fun activities for his family including travel, contests, games, races, and get-togethers. He was generous to all.

He is survived by his children Steve (Beth) Robb of Rochester, Mark (Sue) Robb of Rochester, Karen (Todd) Wheeler of Burnsville, and Kathy Robb of Rochester; Grandchildren Jeff, Lonnett, Jenny, Annie, Danny, Alex, Michael, and Scott; 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and 7 siblings.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 31, 2024, at 11:00 am in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with a visitation one hour prior to the service.

Online condolences are welcome at www.mackenfuneralhome.com.
