Duane “Dewey” Lee
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Duane (Dewey) Levi Lee on December 27, 2024. Duane was born in Lanesboro, MN on September 14, 1942, where he grew up. He graduated from Lanesboro High School and loved playing baseball with his two brothers Allen and Vernon, and their friends. He served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1963 with most of his active duty served in France.
He married Marilyn Ruby Anderson from Lyle, MN at Six Mile Grove Church on October 10, 1964. They lived in Rochester, MN where they raised their three children. He began his working career as a delivery driver at Clothing Care and UPS and finished at Seneca Foods, where he worked for 30 years.
He was known for being loyally proud of his family and enjoyed being surrounded by his nine grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren. All his grandchildren affectionately referred to him as Superman because he was a sturdy presence in their lives and, as they often said, “he can do anything.”
He spent his free time working on games, puzzles, and diamond paintings; and driving around with his wife in their 2011 Mustang GT.
Duane was preceded in death by his parents Adolph and Ida (Odneson) Lee, his brother Allen Lee, his sister-in-law Marjorie Lee, and his nephew Tim Lee.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn Lee, his brother Vernon Lee (Val), his children; Brenda Ingalls (Dave), Nevin Lee (Sherri), Sandra Jacobson; his grandchildren, Jessica (Aaron), Matthew (Tracie), Melissa, Erica (Cody), Mitchell, Andrew (Jessica), Anthony, James, and Gary; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
Duane passed peacefully surrounded by his family. His legacy will forever be etched into the hearts of his family and friends and will always remind us of what it means to be a constant presence in the lives of those you love.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00am Tuesday, January 7, 2025 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, 1105 12th St SE, Rochester, MN 55904 Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
