Douan Singkeo

Douan Singkeo, age 50 of Rochester passed away peacefully at her home, with her family at her side on April 20, 2013 following a battle with cancer.

Douan was born in Laos on July 10, 1962.  On May 15, 1979 she married Thong Singkeo at a refugee camp in Thailand.  Following the birth of their first son, they moved to Rochester after over 5 years in the camp. She was a loving mother and grandmother to her family throughout her life. She loved cooking, fishing, and camping and being with her family.

She is survived by her husband Thong of over 34 years, five children: Bounlot, Tom, James, Stain “Danny”, Julie, eight grandchildren: Kaylee, Jacob, Kadan, Kaleb, Jonah, Gaebrial, Kenidee, Serenity, a sister Vahn and three brothers: Ma, Moon and Niao Tankhamvang.

She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother Chanh.

A Funeral Mass for Douan will be held at 10:30AM on Thursday, April 25, 2013 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Rev. Msgr Gerald A. Mahon officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
