Dorothy M. Hanson

Dorothy Hanson, 68, of Rochester passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at the Stewartville Care Center from congestive heart failure.

Dorothy Marie Hanson was born on April 6, 1951 to Paul and Hazel Hanson in Rochester, MN. She graduated from Mayo High School. Dorothy was employed at the Hoffman House in Rochester for many years. After that she was employed at St. Marys Hospital for ten years before her retirement. Dorothy was active with the Salvation Army Caring Partners. She enjoyed dancing, puzzles, crafts, and playing cards especially the game UNO.

Dorothy is survived by her brothers, Ken (Pat) Hanson of Stewartville, MN and Don (Marcia) Hanson of Wabasha, MN; nephews, Jim (Irene) Hanson, Matt (Jeannie Andrist) Hanson, and Jay (Heidi) Hanson; and niece, Tia (Kris) Nordlund.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Larry.

The family would like to thank Seasons Hospice for all their care and also the staff at Stewartville Care Center where she resided for the past five weeks.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2019 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with Pastor Jean Boese officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service in the chapel. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be directed to the Salvation Army or Paws and Claws Humane Society.
