Dorothy Ann Fogarty

Dorothy Ann Fogarty, 79, left this earthly world on October 11, 2015 in Menomonie, WI where she resided the past year.

Dorothy was born July 17, 1936 in Rochester, MN to Leonard and Arlene Mielke. She graduated from Rochester High School in 1954. She married Jerrold Fogarty April 22, 1957 in Rochester, MN and they farmed in the Elgin and Dover areas for many years. They later divorced.

Dorothy could be seen for many years working at the Holiday Inn South in Rochester as well as Mr. P’s and Rainbow Foods. In her younger years she enjoyed working at Fiksdal Flowers.

She is survived by daughters Sara (Lem Lloyd) Fogarty of Los Altos Hills, CA and Colleen (Will) Etzbach of Menomonie, WI; son William of Laverne, Oklahoma. Her devoted grandchildren Haley, Zach and Mason Etzbach, Menomonie, WI and Celeste and Carly Lloyd, Los Altos Hills, CA. Sisters, Diane (Roger) Wendt and Darlene Mielke of Rochester, MN and brothers, Mike (Carolyn) Mielke, Casa Grande, AZ and Gerald “Butch” (Karen) Mielke of Rochester, MN.

Dorothy was preceded in death by sons, Timothy, September 2000 and Patrick, September 2006 and an infant daughter, in addition to her parents, and brothers Frederick, David, and Glenn.

She will be remembered for her contagious sense of humor, support of others, perseverance and strength. She could rule the kitchen with her cooking and baking, always trying new recipes and canning vegetables. She enjoyed making crafts and sewing. And her green thumb caused plants to grow to extreme size. And, oh how her garden would grow with beautiful flowers.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00PM on Thursday, October 15, 2015 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with the Rev. Thomas Loomis officiating.  Visitation will be 1:00-3:00PM on Thursday, October 15, 2015 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home.

Condolences

The family of Dorothy Ann Fogarty has received the following condolences.

My condolences to you and your family on the passing of your mother. It is never easy to lose a parent, no matter what your age. I wish you all peace and comfort as you continue on without Dorothy in your lives. Knowing she will always have a place in many hearts.

I worked with Dorothy at Holiday Inn for eight years.  We had a great team in the dinning room and Dorothy was a major part of it.  She was always very good natured and easy to work with.  She laughed a lot and always saw a humerous side.  .   I got my favorite kitten ever from Dorothy.  Came out to the farm and got a beutiful calico kitten.  Called her Jessie. I was just past the farm on sunday becausr road construction took me there.  I mentioned my cat and friend Dorothy and thought about my history and two night later Dorothy obituary was in the paper.  I wanted to ome today but it did not work out.  Just wanted to let you know my thought are with the family.  Dorothy was a fantastic person with a warm big heart.  I am sure you will miss her.
