Condolences

The family of Donald “Red” Harris has received the following condolences.

When we moved into our home on 19th Avenue SW, little did we realize the folks across the street, Red and Betty, would become our life long friends.  Our kids grew uptogether--our week-long campouts from the 4th of July weekend right on through Lynn's birthday, our trips to the Hubbel House, learning new songs every weekend on our instruments....the memories are rich and many and that is what I'll cling too.  Red was a great Dad and a wonderful husband who loved and cherished his Betty.  Although we will all miss you Red, the world is a better place because you.

Betty,

My condolences on losing Red.  Since I've turned 80, 83 doesn't seem very old.

Red "Silver Dollar",

I will always remember camping with you and your family almost every weekend at Oxbow Park.  We played the guitar and sang all the oldies but goodies around the campfire every evening.  Every morning you would fire up your griddle and make all the kids "Silver Dollar" pancakes.  I will be eternally thankful to you for your gift of music to me as a young girl, igniting the sparks in me to sing, play the guitar and mandolin.  It is a tradition I carry on with my own family today.

Your life has been and continues to be a blessing to others in so many ways!  All my love, Lynn.

I will always remember Red for his love of music and the time he, Betty and my Dad invested in a young girls passion to play guitar and sing.  I still cherish the memories of our Friday night jam sessions together.

Jodie (Helgerson) Siems

Red was a great guy. Never too busy to help any neighborhood kid with a project, he was a big-hearted and generous man that will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
