Dona M. Brunner

Dona M. Brunner, age 94, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on February 29, 2024 at Madonna Towers in Rochester, MN. Dona was born January 27,1930 in Mazeppa, MN to George and Maude Redding. She grew up in Mazeppa along with four brothers and one sister.

After graduating from Mazeppa High School in 1948, she went to work in Rochester at the Mayo Clinic. She met Richard (Dick) Kroll, and they married on September 4,1954 and over the course of a twenty-five year marriage, they had three children. Dick passed away in October,1979.

Dona also worked in the Rochester School System, and she later worked for IBM.

Dona was lucky enough to find love again with John Brunner and they married on December 31,1983. In 1993, when Dona retired from IBM, she and John built a beautiful life together in a home they built down by the river in Wabasha, MN, until John’s passing in June 2000.

Dona remained in Wabasha until her move to Madonna Towers in 2010, where she spent many happy years until her passing.

Dona is survived by her three children, Daniel (Brenda), Debra Streiff (Tom) and David Kroll (Alison), seven grandchildren, Ben, Jason, AJ, Chris, Jon, Laura, and Emily, and nine great- grandchildren, Bryson, Grace, Millie, Cade, Renley, Tatum, Lennyn, Madelyn, and Finnegan.

Dona was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, four brothers, and one sister.

Dona was full of life.  She loved God, her family, and her friends. She bowled, golfed, played Bridge, knitted, crocheted, and loved watching sports on TV. Go Timberwolves!!

The family would like to express their gratitude to Madonna Towers and Seasons Hospice for the exceptional care of their mother. It did not go unnoticed, and your kindness, warmth, and love was greatly appreciated.

It was Dona’s wish for her body to be donated to the Mayo Foundation Anatomy Educational Laboratory.

A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at the Madonna Towers chapel on March 7, 2024, at 11:00 am. A visitation will be one hour prior to the Mass.
