Dennis James Kerrigan

Dennis James Kerrigan, 63, of Rochester, MN, died Friday, August 21, 2020 at his home.

Dennis was born July 16, 1957 in Superior, WI to Leo and M. Genevieve (Frappier) Kerrigan. He graduated from Lourdes High School in 1975. Following graduation, he joined his father at the family business, Kerrigan Oil Equipment. Dennis worked there for many years before moving to Boston, MA. After returning to Rochester he worked at Rochester Ford until his retirement.

Dennis had a great sense of humor, loved watching the Twins, Vikings, and NASCAR, and going hunting and fishing. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and visiting with them on the phone.

He is survived by his siblings, Pat (Paul) Ronnenberg, Cindi (Joe) Donohue, Dan (Karin) Kerrigan, Donald (Renate) Kerrigan, Debra (Gordon) Reberry, Deanna (Tom) Stower, Danita Kerrigan; 20 nieces and nephews; 22 great-nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Michael Kerrigan; and many relatives.

The memorial gathering for Dennis will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with a prayer service beginning at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2020 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Ridgeway, MN.

Dennis’ family sends a special thank you to Tiffany and Jerriah for being the world’s best neighbors.

Condolences

The family of Dennis James Kerrigan has received the following condolences.

Sorry to hear about Dennis' passing. He was my neighbor for ten years. Always had a smile and kind word whenever we chatted. I'll remember him for always opening his home to anyone who needed a place to stay. Rest easy Dennis!

Lourdes freshman football assistant coach Joe Milkanin gave Dennis the nickname Butch. I’ll never forget the enthusiasm Coach Milkanin would display barking encouragement to Dennis during end of practice conditioning drills. Come on Butchie, Come on Butchie, Coach Milkanin would shout. The nickname Butch stuck. I’ll miss you Butch. Your lifelong friend,
Pat Sandberg

My brother from a different mother. I will miss him greatly.

To Dennis' Family,

My deepest condolences to you and your families.  Dennis was always a pleasure to spend time with.  I couldn't find common ground on the professional football likes, but he didn't hold my Packer affinity against me.  It certainly doesn't seem fair that he should pass away so young with so much of his life's experiences to share with the future generations of Kerrigans.  I regret that I won't make it to Minnesota for the remembrance service but my thoughts and prayers are with you.  Godspeed!

There are wonderful memories when we were growing up. Our parents went to great efforts to make sure we spent time with our cousin's, aunts, uncles etc... It saddens me now to realize that we have let go of so many of those connections, I’ve enjoyed every get together and bi-annual gathering when we could reconnect. Dennis was one of the people who was always a pleasure to visit and catch up with, and for all his strengths, he was one of the gentlest men I’ve ever known, his family was important to him in every way, and no request was too great. I’m sure he impacted many in his short life and I only hope that all those that got to know him can share a little bit of that with the people they encounter from day to day. My condolences and blessing to his family and friends. I for one have not spent enough time with him in recent years but will forever remember the time I did have.
God bless and keep you forever in his grasp. Your are missed

Hi

We wish to offer the Kerrigan family our sincere condolences.

Butch was a good man and I hope he gets healthy in heaven. He was fun to be with and usually had a good joke to tell.

Dennis was a very kind man.  I was just a young man when i first met Dennis, he and my father where working together.  I remember trying to purchase a car that was a manual, that i had no idea how to drive.  Somehow i wound up at his office, and he rode with me, giving me directions on how to drive.  Simple thing, but i remember, and appreciate his kindness more than 30 years ago.  Thank you Dennis, rest in peace.

My condolence for Dennis's passing.

His soul is now in eternal rest and peace Amen

My deepest heartfelt condolences to the family, my heart is still breaking over this sad news.  Dennis will always be remembered for his hearty laugh and fun antics.  My favorite memory of him was him being in a bar and the cops arriving and he wanted to get his coat to take with him.  The cops would not release him, so he broke the handcuffs and picked up his coat and said lets go.  My next favorite story was he and Uncle Leo had gotten into an argument (never argue with a Kerrigan - lol) and as Dennis was cleaning out the back of the truck He one handed picked up the wheelbarrow and stuck it straight out and told Uncle Leo to take it. Never realized how strong he was till that story, but I would never have wanted to be on his bad side!  R.I.P. Dennis, you will be missed by so many.  Love you always, your cousin, Donna

To Dan & his family,

Sadden for lose at this time.

I’m so sorry to hear about Dennis!  We were close in age; so it hits hard to learn of his passing.  More than any of his siblings, Dennis strongly resembled his Dad in appearance.  As a kid, he was quiet, so I can only assume that he remained that way as an adult.  God bless you, Dennis!  RIP

Deepest condolences to his family. May he rest in peace.
