Dennis Gilgenbach

Dennis Gilgenbach, 68, of Rochester, MN, passed away Friday, November 23rd at St. Marys Hospital.

Denny was born March 18, 1950 in Austin, MN to Wilfred and Laura Gilgenbach.  He graduated from Pacelli High School in 1968. He attended Austin Community College and Mankato State. Denny worked at the Post Bulletin and most recently Davies Printing retiring from the “work life” in July of 2017.

Denny will be greatly missed by his partner, Donna; his children, Cameron(Randy), Ryan (Sarah) and their children Sophia, Aidan, Nia; and his former wife, Brenda; and Donna’s children, Kristin Shanahan, Kyle (Ann) Shanahan, and their children, Jackson and Addie.

He loved to share time with his family – pontoon rides, vacationing anywhere he could hear the gentle sound of water and feel the warmth of the sun on his face.  He was very active participating in golfing, reading, writing, and umpiring softball games.  He was a tried and true Viking fan. Skol!!

Denny’s parting words of wisdom he shared.  Life is a gift….Embrace every day.

Condolences

The family of Dennis Gilgenbach has received the following condolences.

Denny was the Davies sales rep to United Way for a number of years.  He was always so professional and always with a smile and kind word.  He made sure to shake hands and make one feel as if they were the most important person that he was calling on.  I looked forward to visiting with Denny whenever I saw him because he had that way of lifting your spirits. My sympathy to your family.  He was a truly nice guy.

I met Denny while working at RPU. I did not know a lot about him at first, but as our working relationship grew, so did our personal conversations and I always enjoyed talking to him about life and things going on outside of work. I had the honor of being invited to go to the Rochester Quarterback's Club 2017 event and am glad I was able to spend some time with him. He was extremely outgoing, always had a good word to say and will be missed by everyone that knew him.

God Bless,

Zak

Sorry to hear about Denny.  He will be missed.

Donna & Family, so very sorry for your loss. Sending our deepest sympathy.

Our deepest sympathies. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I recall Denny from when I worked in retail @ Apache Mall and he assisted me with our promotional ads for the store. He was always sweet, pleasant, kind, and really knew his craft! I had seen Denny a few times in Rochester and it was so nice that he remembered me from all that time that had passed. I was sad to hear of his passing as he was such a gentle soul. Heaven has gained a wonderful angel and I am grateful for the time I had the chance to know Denny. My sympathies to his family

My condolences to Denny's loved ones. Denny had a knack for making us laugh until we couldn't breathe. That was true of my first (and soon to be daily) encounter with him in the early 80s at the Post-Bulletin, or this century in the parking lot at Davies on sales calls, filling me in on the latest gossip. I'm sorry for your loss.

Donna, I am so sorry for your loss of Dennis. As I “embrace my days” I will recall him. He was a cheerful and pleasant person.

Be taking especially good care of yourself as your new normal unfolds.

I always enjoyed working with Dennis he helped me with menus and signs used on the street ( Thursdays on First ) and in the restaurant ( Michael's Restaurant ) I haven't had much contact with Dennis since Michael's closed end of December 2014. I was hoping some day to get him to visit me at my cabin in northern Wisconsin especially after reading what was true enjoyment to him water, sun and pontoon rides. the other thing I noticed about Dennis he dressed meticulous representing his employer in a business minded way my condolences to all his family and friends

Thank You
