Delores “Tootie” Krahn

Delores “Tootie” Krahn, 84, of Rochester, died peacefully on February 4, 2021 at Cottagewood Senior Communities.

Delores Isabelle Shanks was born on November 7, 1936 in rural Pine Island, MN to Ralph and Hazel (Farrand) Shanks. Tootie graduated from Pine Island High School. Following high school, she had various jobs including making display-windows for Arnold’s Clothing in downtown Rochester. She retired from Johnson Printing Company in Rochester after over 20 years. Tootie married Leon Krahn on September 13, 1958. She was known for her holiday celebrations; especially her Special K bars and Snickers salad. Tootie had a great sense of humor. Above all, she loved being with her family.

She is survived by her sons, Mark (Cindy) Krahn of Rochester, Richard (Sharon) Krahn of Eyota, MN, Terry (Carla) Krahn of Rochester; grandchildren, Cory, Jenny, Travis, Ben, Tony, Nick, Dylan, Natalie, Kelsi; 11 great-grandchildren (and a great-grandson due this August!); sister, Mary Dorman; brothers Roland Shanks and John (Mary) Shanks and sister-in-laws Sandy Sterling and Shari Briggs.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon; son, Gary; three sisters; and two brothers.

A memorial gathering for Tootie will be held on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home. Her ashes will be laid to rest at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Rochester, MN.

I'm very saddened to hear of Great Aunt Tooties passing. My condolences to her family. I can honestly say she was one of my favorite people/relative growing up. She was a riot to play bingo with. She will be sorely missed.
