Debra Lu Wagner
On October 10, 2016, Debra Lu Wagner, 60 years of age, passed away peacefully. She was surrounded by her loving family. The cause of her death was related to her medical diagnosis of ovarian/peritoneal cancer. Debra Lu Wagner was born March 28, 1956 in Rochester, Minnesota. She was the only daughter of Louis and Ila Wagner.
Debra Lu loved her family, friends, and boyfriend dearly. She enjoyed helping others, baking, home-remodeling, gardening, visiting her relatives’ farms, bird watching, walks in the woods, and traveling. She was also very fond of the ventures with her boyfriend and his German Shepard dog to the North Shore and Gunflint Trail. Debra shared her concern for nature and mother earth’s clean air and water, including the endangered species of the world.
Debra Lu graduated from Rochester Mayo Senior High School in 1974. She obtained her Registered Nurse license in 1984 and worked at hospitals in Michigan and Minnesota. For the past 24 years, she was employed at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis.
Debra Lu is survived by her parents Louis and Ila Wagner of Rochester, MN; and three brothers, Steven (Jean) Wagner of Pine Island, MN, Jeffrey Wagner of Rochester, MN, and Todd (Doreen) Wagner of Pine Island, MN. She was blessed with three nephews, Cameron Scott Wagner of California (son of her deceased brother Scott Wagner), and Chad Scott Wagner and Lucas Allen Wagner of Colorado (twin sons of her bother Jeffrey Wagner).
Debra Lu was preceded in death by both her paternal and maternal grandparents as well as her beloved brother Scott Leroy Wagner who passed suddenly on January 22, 1995.
The memorial service will be held at the River Park Chapel Macken Funeral Home at 1105 12th Street Southeast, Rochester, Minnesota on Saturday, October 15 at 3:00pm with Reverend Nathaniel Schwartz officiating. Visitation will be two hours prior to the memorial service on Saturday starting at 1:00pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens in Rochester.

Debra always took on her responsibilities and kept her commitments with quiet integrity and grace. Surely this final challenge did not change a thing about the essential Debra but manifested her courage. She was true to all she valued in this world and truly appreciated all that was beautiful and good. We will miss her here at HCMC.
I had the pleasure of working with Debra at HCMC for the last 6 years. She was always a smiling face greating me in the morning. She will be truely missed.
Our sincere and deepest sympathies go out to Louie, Ila, John and the entire Wagner family on the loss of Debra. We have always believed in miracles and prayed we would get another for Debra. We were blessed to have known her and are very saddened by the news of her passing. The family and John will be in our prayers................so sad.
