Dayton Younger

Dayton Alfred Younger, age 78, of Rochester, MN, died at Rochester Methodist Hospital April 17, 2019.

Dayton was born December 28, 1940 in St. Paul, MN, the son of Elmer and Jessie (Millard) Younger. Dayton was united in marriage to Patricia Trabert June 4, 1977 in Rochester, MN. Dayton drove milk truck for Elmer Rubo of Eyota for several years. He also worked for Strain Bussing and First Student, until his retirement. When he was younger, he loved fishing and hunting. He was a scraper, and he also liked to watch and feed the birds and squirrels. Dayton met with his friends and family at south HyVee for coffee almost daily.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Pamela Ann Cohran; sisters, Loretta Phelps, Arlene Strain, and Jeanette Unger.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; sons, Troy (Cindy) Cohran of Georgia, and Chuck Cohran (Marcia Gammell) of Rochester; and daughter, Patty (Leigh) Baldwin of Rochester, MN; eight grandchildren, Jessica, Nicholas, Samantha, Audrey, Leslie, Oscar, Alicia, and Megan; seven great-grandchildren, Conner, Evelyn, Elizabeth, Freya, Julie, Tanya, and Abby; siblings, Raymond Younger of Byron, MN, Beverly Strain of Rochester, MN, Sylvia (William) Rossman of Eyota, MN; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2019 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with Rev. Lester Horntvedt officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
