David Duane Seim

David Duane Seim, 88, of Rochester, MN, died Sunday, December 27, 2020 at Cottagewood Senior Communities.

David was born September 7, 1932 in Rock Dell, MN to Albert and Edna (Boyum) Seim. He grew up helping his father on the farm in Rock Dell. David joined the Navy in January of 1953 and served until January of 1957. He went on to work at Molde Trucking Company which is now known as Lawrence Transportation until his retirement.

On June 1, 1957 David married Ellen Marten. Together they raised four children and attended Gloria Dei church.

David enjoyed music and was called by the pastor of East St. Olaf church on numerous occasions to sing at church services. He also enjoyed bowling, pool, playing cards and driving his 1980 mustang.

David is survived by his wife, Ellen; son, Wayne; two daughters, Susan Hodge, and Sharon Hasley all of Rochester, MN; five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Linda; his parents; one brother, Lyle Seim; and one sister, RoseAnn Richardson.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 2, 2021 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home in Rochester, MN. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Gardens.

Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Ellen and family, so sorry to hear about Dave's passing.  I had some fun alot of times with Dave when we worked together at Molde's , and loved to see him and his smile were ever you would run into Dave   God Speed Dave ! 


Dear Ellen and family, Mike & I  are so very sorry for your loss. We loved his smile & laugh! Uncle David always made us feel loved & welcome & always happy to see us.  We have a lot of wonderful memories of him. He will be truly missed.

Dear Ellen and family, Wally and I are so very sorry for your loss. Us cousins didn't get together often enough, but when we did, I so enjoyed being around you and David. He had the nicest personality and the sweetest smile! Blessed be his memory!

So sorry for your loss I will always have memories of our parents getting together spending time at your place in Rochester when we were younger. Ellen and Dave coming to our house to visit. Watching Dave Matt Eugene and my father play 500 at the Christmas get togethers. You have my deepest sympathies
