Darwin “Dar” Halverson

Darwin “Dar” Neil Halverson, 72 of Rochester, passed away peacefully following a short battle with cancer on May 3, 2021 at Rochester Health Services West.

Dar was born on May 12, 1948 in Lanesboro, MN to Sabert and Carol (Johnson) Halverson. He grew up in Canton, MN and graduated from Canton High School in 1966 (the last graduating class before consolidation with Mabel). He was drafted into the US Army in 1968. He served active duty in Vietnam until his honorable discharge in November of 1969. On January 31, 1972, he married Inez Winslow in Cheyenne, WY. Together, the couple made Rochester their home. Dar worked for Pepsi and Minnesota Loan before working as General Manager of Kuehn Motors for over 43 years. He was a smart businessman who was well known to many. He loved fishing, elk hunting, camping and golfing.

He is survived by his wife Inez of Rochester, his children Nicki Halverson of Bozeman, MT, Brett (Anna) Halverson of Mt. Horeb, WI; grandchildren Willow Rose and Lucy; two brothers Daryl of Indianapolis, Donald of Houston, TX and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his older brother Duane, and his sister Delayne.

The Memorial Gathering for Dar will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home from 1:00pm until 4:00pm. His ashes will be interred in the Preston, MN State Veterans Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials are preferred to the Mayo Clinic Hospice Program or the American Cancer Society.

I am so sorry for your lose.  I can remember  Darwin while I grown-up  in Canton.

We are so sad to hear of Dar's passing. We could not have asked for better neighbors than the two of you while living in Heritage Hills. Dar was so very good to our kids and I always enjoyed our conversations. There's no doubt he is in heaven catching lots of big fish and hitting numerous hole in ones.
