Daniel “Boone” Laures
Daniel David “Boone” Laures, 61 of Rochester, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes on September 2, 2022 at his home.
Dan was born on February 6, 1961 in Torrance, CA to Lyle and Marilynn (Breski) Laures. As a baby, the family moved to Rochester, MN where he graduated from John Marshall High School in 1979. On May 13, 1989 he married his high school sweetheart, Kerry Brown at Christ United Methodist Church in Rochester. He attended University of Wisconsin Stout, and graduated with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Dan worked as a cement Mason for most of his working career, longest with Benike Construction in Rochester as Superintendent. He had just recently began working as a Business Agent for the Local 633 Union. Dan was a loving husband, father, son, brother and friend to many. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and racing motocross. Throughout his kid’s youth, he was very involved in coaching their many sports and loved cheering them on at all of their games. Dan loved spending time with his family and was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed golfing, cabin weekends, and fishing in Canada and Alaska. He was a kind and generous person. Many spoke of his signature smirk, a half cracked smile of genuine amusement and singular expression that signaled exactly what he was thinking.
He is survived by his loving wife Kerry of Rochester, his son Chase of Rochester, daughter Gabrielle of Minneapolis, his mother Marilynn (Step-father Darrell) Brown of Stewartville, his siblings Leonard (Sharon) Laures, Jerry (Julie) Laures, Kathy (Paul) Schwartz, and Jolene (Richard) Flicker.
He is Preceded in death by his father Lyle (1978) and an infant sister, Lonnie.
The Memorial Service for Dan will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Zumbro Lutheran Church in Rochester at 11:00am with Pastor Shelley Cunningham officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening, September 7, 2022 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Mayo Clinic Alzheimers Research or donor’s choice.

Very sorry to hear of your husbands passing, I just found out last night. My last conversation with him was at the 63 club and he was talking about his children and their past sports. Kerry and Family , so shocked and saddened to hear of your loss. Dan was like a brother that i never had as he welcomed me into his life after college. I will always remember the incredible times we had playing every sport we thought we could (even ones we couldn't), fishing, hunting and even the simple movie nights at home. He was the most positive, upbeat guy and made everyone around him a better person. His one liners he had will never be forgotten and are still used today.
My thought and prayers are with Y'all during these tough times.
