Daniel Alexander Allman

Dr. Daniel Alexander Allman, 29 of Rochester died tragically from a fall while camping in northern Minnesota on September 7, 2020.  He died in a place he loved, looking forward to spending time in the woods with buddies he loved. The world is truly a better place because of Daniel’s presence in it.

Our Daniel was born November 14, 1990 in Rochester. He graduated from Mayo High School in 2009 where he was an accomplished athlete in basketball and the high jump.

Following high school, he attended Creighton University and the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, obtaining a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS). He made Minneapolis his home. At the time of his death, he was an Associate at Boger Dental in Plymouth, MN. He also held a real estate license with Multiple Financial Services, Inc. Daniel loved camping, cycling, his friends from all walks of his life, heavy metal music, reading, critical thinking, and his family.

Daniel believed in working hard. He believed in giving back using his passion for charitable dentistry to those less fortunate at Hope Dental Clinic, even during these uncertain times. He lived fully, enjoyed every step of his life, and helped others appreciate and enjoy life.

He is survived by the love of his life, Riley Camas of Minneapolis, his father, Jeffrey of Rochester, his mother, Dr. Barbara Bruce of Jacksonville, FL, his siblings, John of St. Paul, Madeleine of Houston, TX, his grandparents, Lee (Marty) Allman of Wheaton, IL, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, George (Lillian) Bruce.

His presence will be missed beyond words. We are so glad to have had Daniel in our lives but his ended much too soon. He was turning 30 this year and he was so happy. He had the best job in the world, the best girl in the world, a sister that adored him, a brother who admired him, and parents who will never breathe again without remembering his caring spirit and strength.  He was so loved.

The funeral service for Daniel will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 11:00AM in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home officiated by Pastor George Beech. This service will be live-streamed to Facebook on the page: “Macken Funeral Home, River Park Chapel”. Visitation will be held on Friday evening, September 11, 2020 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Rochester.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Hope Dental Clinic of St. Paul, MN

Oh Jeff.....I am so very sorry for the loss of your amazing son. I know what a proud father you are. There are no words to convey my deepest, heartfelt condolences to you and to your entire family, and to all of Daniel's friends and loved ones. I watched the service and heard first-hand the stories of Daniel's kind heart, and of all his accomplishments in his short life. May he rest in peace. And may you take comfort in knowing that you raised a beautiful son who left a beautiful impression on this world. Sending you a huge virtual hug, Jeff.

We had the pleasure of having Dan join us on our first mission trip to Guatemala. He was full of energy, always cheerful and ready for the world. I remember at the end of the trip he said he was so glad he went... that it gave him direction and helped him to decide what he wanted to do with his life. Almost 10 years later... I see that he wasn't kidding... he did exactly what he told me he would do on that plane ride back to Minnesota.  It was a joy to share our first experience of Guatemala with him.  Our deepest condolences to Barbara, Jeff, the families and friends of all those who loved him. He was a gift whose memory will live on in those whose lives he touched. Thank you for sharing him with the Young Adult Mission Team.

I want to express my heartfelt sympathy at the loss of your precious son. He sounds like he was just a wonderful person. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Allman Family and Bruce Family,

We are all saddened to hear about the sudden loss of Daniel. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult time.

Dear Riley, Family and Friends of Daniel  Allman,

We were so saddened to hear of Dan’s passing. Please accept our condolences and prayers during this extremely difficult time.

We enjoyed getting to know Dan during our chats in the hallway. We will always remember, during every interaction, how he had a smile on his face, how he asked us about our day, and how he played with our overly friendly puppy. The way he radiated kindness, even with acquaintances, was truly unique.

Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to you in this time of sorrow.

My deepest condolences and sympathy to the Allman family for the loss of Dan. His friendliness, sense of humor and welcoming personality touched many lives, including mine. I always enjoyed seeing him during dental school, and I think we can all agree that our time in dental school was better because Dan was our classmate and friend. He truly had a bright personality and bright outlook on life, which brightened our lives. I was looking forward to seeing him at dental conferences throughout our career, and will feel this loss every time he is not there with us. Dan, I will save a spot for you in my guest igloo. Rest peacefully my friend. Joe Sem

Loved ones of Dan:

Dan was our son’s college roommate and dear friend.  We met Dan the first day we took our son, Alec, to Creighton some years back.  Dan made an immediate impression upon us both.  We only had the opportunity to meet Dan a few times, but always enjoyed his wonderful smile, intelligence, and happy personality.  We knew they would be great friends.  I think our most memorable meeting was when Dan and his college buddies came to our farm to go pheasant hunting 2 years ago.  Though they had terrible luck, I think Dan got the biggest kick out of being in the middle of no where, but having all his buddies with him.  We spent the evenings tipping a few and conversing on most any topic that came to mind.  I think they call it a “free flow of consciousness”!

What a wonderful man!  His life influenced those around him.  God will reward him in heaven and Jesus will welcome him with a perfect smile!  There might not be much work for dentists in heaven, but all the smiles he will be reacquainted with will provide blessings to us all forever.

I had heard about the fall on the news, but had no idea who it was. Now that I know, I extend my sympathies to Jeff, family, and friends in this time of great sorrow, and stand ready to offer any assistance desired.

To Dan's loving family -Dr. Barbara, John, Madeleine, Riley and Jeffrey,

On behalf of the staff at Common Hope in St. Paul, I want to send our sincere condolences. Dan was an amazing person with a huge heart. That is apparent to all who knew him and those he touched through his charitable work. Our staff at Common Hope had the pleasure of meeting Dan when he volunteered to go to Guatemala on a dental trip with Dr. Stephen Humbert through the UofM Dental School. As in all aspects of his life, he had an impact in Guatemala--serving patients living in poverty who otherwise would not have access to dental care. Please know that all of us both in Guatemala and in St. Paul are sending our thoughts and prayers to your family during this incredibly difficult time.

Personally, I can also attest to Dan's great spirit as I heard much about him from John. John and I went to college together and through the years I've had the pleasure of hearing some great stories and memories of Dan. It is a very small-world coincidence that Dan also happened to go to Guatemala through the organization where I work. I know he will be so missed by all who knew him.

May you find peace in the midst of your sorrow,

Lizz Peterson

I went to dental school with Dan. There was never a day he would pass me in the hall without giving me a giant bear hug. He had such a big and cheerful personality that will not be forgotten.

Dan, you will be missed dearly by your family and all of your loved one. Rest In Peace.

Dear Jeff, Barbara, David and Madeleine,

I was Dan's patient at Boger Dental and was devastated when I heard of his passing. He was such a great dentist and I could tell he truly cared for his patients. He always made sure I was comfortable. I was looking forward to my next cleaning to show him how much I have improved with my flossing! Not only was he a great dentist, but also a great person. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. God bless.

I was very saddened to hear about this, and especially so when I heard he was a member of the Allman family. Sending my heartfelt condolences to you all during this difficult time.

Dear Riley, Barbara, Jeff, John and Madeleine,

We are devastated along with you and his many friends on the loss of our sweet nephew, Dan. He was taken too soon. He was funny, loaded with kindness and energy and was ready to make his next mark on the world and his community. His memory will live in all of us who knew and loved him. He won't ever be gone from our hearts.

Our deepest sympathies are being sent to all of you. You will remain in our thoughts and prayers as we all struggle to understand how he can be gone from our midst but we will cherish all the memories of happy times with Dan.

Love,

Uncle Greg and Aunt Tamby

I am heartbroken to hear about Dan's passing. I was in Dan's class in Dental School. He was always friendly, kind and full of life and fun. He was always ready to offer help when we were working in the clinic or lab together. He always would have something funny to say to brighten days that were hard in dental school. He was a great guy.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family and Riley. I am so sorry for your loss.

I have had the pleasure of working alongside Dan at Boger Dental as a dental hygienist.  He was funny, smart, hard-working, and was particularly adept at oral surgery and endodontics.  He fit in like a glove, and his sense of humor was contagious.  Not a day went by working with him that he did not stop by my operatory to ask me how my day was going, or to check on the love of his life, Riley, working across the hall from me.

I can't believe he is gone.  Words cannot describe how sorry I am for your family's loss, for Riley's loss, as I struggle to find my own words for my own feelings.

Your family and Riley are in me thoughts during this very difficult time.

Sincerely,

Michelle Sensat

We are so sorry to read about Daniel’s passing.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to your whole family.

Dan,

Your positive attitude and cheerful spirit will be forever missed. Last night I dreamt I saw you again and we were all dancing together.. we knew you passed away but we could communicate with you and you were the one comforting us. It was so vivid and wild. I remember volunteering with you at Union Gospel Mission/Hope Dental Clinic. You will be forever missed as a friend, a brother, a son, and a dentist. RIP to our lost homie.

Sincerely, Katy

We are so extremely sorry to hear of his passing. He was our young son’s dentist.

Our son has certain challenges and it was sometimes difficult to go through the dental exams and cleanings but Dr Dan was always so good with him and understanding. He had no Dr’s ego and was such a sweet soul. It won’t be the same without him there and our heart breaks for all of you who are experiencing this terrible tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all in this time of grief.

I did not know Daniel personally, but he was a dear friend of my nephew, Aaron Martinson. I know Aaron's family loved Daniel and are devastated by the news. I am from Duluth and his death was on the news up here.

I send my deepest sympathy to the family and will be praying for God’s strength and mercy to surround them.
