Dana D. Wentworth

Dana Dartt Wentworth, 86, of Rochester, died peacefully in his home Thursday, July 27, 2017.

He was born on May 22, 1931 in Rochester to Rollin and Bernice (Dartt) Wentworth. Dana grew up in the Kasson- Mantorville area and graduated from Kasson high school in 1949. He enlisted into the U.S. Navy in 1949 and was honorably discharged in 1953. On June 25, 1955 Dana was united in marriage to Darlene Marie Folkert in Bremen (Wabasha County) and recently celebrated 62 years of marriage. They had four children, Paula, Todd, Jon, and James. Dana was employed by The Rochester Dairy and the City of Rochester, where he retired in 1994. He could not stay idle long and took a part time job for a few years at Ace Hardware.

Dana was a longtime member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rochester. He enjoyed first and foremost time with his family, especially during the holidays. He was a devoted father and grandfather taking in many of their activities. He loved working in his workshop and garden, having coffee and breakfast with friends and playing games especially cribbage and aggravation. He enjoyed Dairy Queen visits, Mickey Mouse, short scenic drives with his wife, and fishing in Canada. He was a man quick to help anyone with a project. Dana was best known for making people laugh with his quick wit.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene; children, Paula (Paul Lindquist) Wentworth of Rochester, Todd (Barb) Wentworth of Duluth, MN, Jon (Mary) Wentworth of Roseville, MN, James (Caroline Clement) Wentworth of Duluth, MN; six grandchildren, Monica, Thomas, Sean, Collin, Karley, and Oliver; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Art and Arlene Folkert of Rochester, and Frank and Elaine Folkert of Plainview; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Charlene; and brother-in-law, Bob Riedel.

A celebration of Dana’s life will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 3, at Redeemer Lutheran Church with Pastor Adam Koglin officiating.  Military rites will be performed by American Legion Post 92 following the service.  A visitation for family and friends will be at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Lunch will be served afterwards.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks memorials be sent to Redeemer Lutheran Church and Seasons Hospice.

The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to all of his caregivers during his illness.

Macken Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences are welcome at www.mackenfuneralhome.com.
